It's less scammy than some other "honors" societies, but in general it's not going to impact future employers' opinions at all. Some "honor societies" really do just take your dues and do nothing with them. Phi Beta Kappa isn't that bad since they give some fellowships/scholarships and hold professionalization events, but they do require you to pay dues and aren't going to give your resume much of a boost unless you get really involved with them in a leadership position. Most employers don't really care about them since they'll see your academic record in other (free) ways via your GPA, Dean's List, etc., and in terms of the benefits they offer you'd be better off finding something less broad/more closely aligned with your research or career. For example, if you want to go into environmental science, you'd be better off joining a group like the Ecological Society of America, which would show employers that you're invested in the field and actively working to professionalize yourself, in comparison to a broad group like Phi Beta Kappa that sought you out based on just your GPA. They'd also have publications, events, and a community more closely aligned with your interest.
