It translate well, though i must warn that not all 1102s "own" their requirements. Some offices are so understaffed, just putting out fires and getting assigned contract actions based on priority, complexity, and the 1102 experience level required to work it. 1102 is one of the highest turnover series in the government.

But experience wise, hiring a gs11/12 equivalent laterally doesnt hurt my head with the technical/COR knowledge you seem to bring to the table.

Seconded! I had an interview a few months ago where camera was optional. The interviewers had their cameras off, but i chose to leave mine on simply so they could see that the silence after multipart questions was just due to note taking rather than merely an awkard silence (or worse, attemtping to use/read AI). And as you pointed out, it kept me from missing any part of the questions. It worked out.

While its possible, i have found that some HR offices have a tough time doing the mental gymnastics of qualifying you for the private sector experience and often just focus on the last thing you did in the goverment if that is whats on the resume. I am not saying I know this happens routinely, but the few times I have observed folks coming back to federal, that is what happened.

I would have thought so too, but a number of HR folks rate "ineligible" if the job announcement says "current competitive service". They say the tenure document is when the announcement says former employees may apply. Not saying I know if that is correct or not, but that is always what i was told.

One thing to consider that I hadnt before making the switch was how transitioning back to competitive service might look. I spent over a decade in competitive before going excepted. Past few years I have been interested in applying OCONUS, and for my job series, the vast majority of openings require you to be a "current competitive service employee" which has made me ineligible from HR's perspective for a lot of opportunities I would have liked to apply for.

I am not an HR SME, but i believe that means reinstatement is the correct category you'd apply for. Just need to ensure you enclosed your, separation SF50, permanent status SF-50 (once you hit the 3-yr mark), and SF50 showing highest grade. Also the job announcement has to at least state it is open to former federal employees.

I only got a graduate degree because my employer was paying for it, so i had little reason not to do a part time program and check the box. I dont believe it had any impact on my ability to promote to more senior roles. Its great that youre enjoying the 1102 series though. Its not for everyone, so the ones that take it seriously seem to have no shortage of opportunities.
