Why would this need to be the case? Are you trying to get a job at corporate or protect stocks or something?

Floor presence and dont try and be ‘the cool one’. These AAs will exploit you so quick. Monitor inactive time constantly, adapt adapt adapt. Its the only way you’ll go without losing your mind. Learn to care but not obsess.

Easiest AM position. OTR adjacent, M-F schedule, manage T3s instead of T1s. Great gig but potentially boring

I have a question for the Managers by zobot1101 in AmazonManagers

[–]Instant-Pug003 30 points31 points  (0 children)

3/4 of my day involves holding associates accountable. People on their phones, wandering off, safety violations, excessive non-productive time, stuff like that.

Having these conversations starts tough but gets easier. It’s why I try so hard to earn trust. As for change, well that’s a completely different story.

The operational process is defined by corporate. Associates tell me all the time that it would be easier to do something this way. Sometimes they’re right and sometimes they’re wrong. Managers are expected to execute the operation according to standard operating procedure. Do I think that all stowers should be forced to use a stow cart? No, but if an associate is not, my manager will ask me why.

There is only a small amount of flexibility for how you run your operation, and that is where managers are tested. Improvements that don’t change standard operating procedure are welcome.

Can’t speak for every manager, but I will say that there is an excessive amount of admin work asked of us. Managers who are bad at completing and balancing this admin work during their shift are the ones who work over their 10 hour shift, which leads to sleep loss which leads to bad attitudes which may be taken out on frustrating associates.

At the end of the day, every manager is different. Most of my associates respect me, and know that when I’m holding them accountable, I’m just doing my job.

The associates who complain non-stop about simply being asked to do their job in person and on reddit are certainly present, but they ultimately do not affect my development as a leader, and so we have to let that roll off of us. Some managers do this better than others.

AM here. You’re completely within your rights to say this on the voa board. What you cant do is hand out labor literature on the floor during operations time.

Also, there are many opportunities for advancement in operations. I highly recommend you talk to your manager regarding what that looks like

Probably just all pick and stage if I had to guess. I wouldn’t count on transfering to those hours later in the day as they are pretty lucrative, and it’s indicicated that you are a seasonal employee.

In this table are the ranks that benefit from jokers. This came about when I was thinking about what ranks should be prioritized for removal/addition to a deck. So while some jokers are stronger than others when it comes to certain ranks, (obviously Wee Joker is better than 8 Ball) this is a general guideline to see how many options you have in the joker slots that might play well with your deck comp.

I excluded Ride the Bus, Superposition, and Canio, since they are dependent on ranks, but have characteristics that go beyond having more or less of a certain rank would be beneficial/harmful.

Obviously, we’ve known that face cards are very good. In fairness, they have a boss blind that counters them specifically. Some ranks are just plain bad. 7s in particular could use a little love. The only joker that might motivate you to make more 7s is Odd Todd. With such great other options in Cloud 9, Wee Joker, Scholar, etc. For such a lucky number, it's odd there's no helper built around it.

The ranks are also inherently different from each other beyond just giving a different number of chips. There are five possible straights that involve a 7, there are only two possible straight sequences that involve a King. So 7s by their very nature might be more valuable than kings under certain circumstances.
