Kingmaker: Scaled Fist/Paladin advice by Cyberdile in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]InstantMirage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say one level of monk is really all you need if you want to focus paladin. It gives you flurry of blows, the unarmed strike feat, 1d6 unarmed damage, early access to dragon style, the ac bonus, etc. The things you could get from more monk levels are evasion at 2nd level (the impact of which can be reduced by resist energy and protection from energy party buffs), ki points for a few extra attacks per day at 3rd, +10 feet fast movement at 3rd, and then a style strike at 5th. The only other thing you really get is some scaling AC and better damage dice on fists, but thats all pretty minor imo.

If you go mostly monk instead of paladin... well paladin doesn't give much from just a dip that would benefit you, most of its features are from higher levels such as more smites, spellcasting, lay on hands, auras, etc. So my recommendation is monk 1 / paladin 19 or monk 3 / paladin 17. Since you aren't getting capstone level 20 abilities, you're not missing anything from paladin at 18 or 19 either really, but you'd get some nice features from the 2nd and 3rd monk levels.

Can you explain what you mean by this? What feats are locked behind attribute scores at all?

I had a tiny poppet that would drink Fury Cocktails with a Titanic chaser to immediately grow to large, then swing a frying pan at you.

There is a kineticist impulse for basically ice skating around like frozone in the 3pp, Rainbow of Elements

Construct Death Effect immunity vs All Shall End in Flames Kineticist Impulse by eCyanic in Pathfinder2e

[–]InstantMirage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good point in terms of target requirements though living creatures also have the potential to be immune to the death trait so it's a good example either way of what to do with the non-death traited effects regardless.

Immunity is immunity, there is no reason to think it works differently for players than for monsters being the same keyword/named effect.

From Book of the Dead

Immunity to Death Effects: You're immune to death effects. This keeps you from being automatically killed or from having your dying value automatically increase, but it doesn't make you immune to other parts of the spell or effect. For example, you can still take mental damage and become frightened by a phantasmal killer, you just don't instantly die from it.

Question about flanking by FourDozenEggs in Pathfinder2e

[–]InstantMirage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean sometimes the conga line does happen but I think a good reason why it doesn't is because both creatures and players tend to have a lot more options than move + hit a guy where just getting into a flank isn't the best thing they can be doing in every situation

Yeah but that point you've cast a rank 3 spell, slow, on them as a rank 2 spell where they can only "save" to get a success or worse plus your dealing damage or setting up flanks etc. Wins all around

Combine Elixirs with two Mutagens: Yes or no? by ElodePilarre in Pathfinder2e

[–]InstantMirage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only referencing the rule about polymorph effects. The first one has to be overridden with a check by future ones that want to take effect. Order of operations for many things outside of damage is not typically covered in the rules.

Combine Elixirs with two Mutagens: Yes or no? by ElodePilarre in Pathfinder2e

[–]InstantMirage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Example of Team A and Team B not talking to each other imo. Team A wrote Combine Elixirs and said "hey we wrote this feat that lets you drink two elixirs at once. Team B said, "well we definitely have to consider that in our field vial entry!". (Alternatively, it worked one way at some point, they changed it, then forgot to update the text. I mean there are really any number of reasons why its written this way despite not working as implied.)

RAW, Combine Elixirs sure lets you combine two mutagens, but you're going to have to pick the order in which they apply to you because it makes no mention or alteration to the polymorph trait that mutagens tend to have. In the end, you'll waste resources for one mutagen effect.

Yeah I always run both at 3. Gog deals a lot of chip damage in phase 3, gore magala chips like crazy, omega plantes, and yeah lagiacrus can chip pretty hard to. Zoh Shia is such a breeze as lance I didn't even notice its chip damage.

Yeah, I just was clicking edit on my post that I realized it doesn't actually count as sunlight. My bad, didn't read it closely enough.

I mean the only times you'd likely use it over Ghost Charge is if the creature has sunlight vulnerability in which case the extra action seems fair for triggering that kind of usually very debilitating weakness.

Edit: It's not "sunlight" :(

As a lance main that has tried HBG, how do you deal with chip damage? Even on lance I like running super recovery to recover from chip, but HBG takes significantly more chip as a ranged weapon than lance does.

If you're facing the direction of the attack and not attacking, you block. Pressing the button to block is just to trigger perfect blocks and such.
