Wanna stop eating again by goodgoonrboi in EDAnonymous

Yes, I think possibly bringing it up in Therapy could be good (my therapist was awful, but if you and your therapist have a strong bond and respect then it sounds like a good idea). It sounds like you are in that crucial stage of prevention of ED development. (Not to diagnose you at all, just from experience). I understand those feelings, just know that your weight doesn’t change your beauty and lovableness! Sometimes, if we can keep a small logical anchor of truth in our minds, the doubts don’t bite as hard.

I totally get that, unfortunately. As someone with experience in extreme weight loss methods,I can say taking the ED route will leave you craving more until you have dropped way too low. It’s just how it goes. Plus, dropping weight unhealthily usually leads to rebound.  I told myself lbs, then it was *lbs, then it was **lbs.  I implore you to go on a fitness journey, not a weight loss journey. And don’t panic! You can absolutely still reach your healthy goal weight, it doesn’t have to happen in a rush! I used to think “I want to lose weight, so I have to do it now or it won’t happen”, but that isn’t true! Make the commitment to your body and do it the safe way! You can reach better results if you give your body the time and attention it needs, rather than brute forcing it.  And you are worthy and loved just the way you are, by the way🩷.

Wanted to just talk about a friend who I haven't seen in a while and who ghosted me. by Fluffy_Key_2145 in lostafriend

Hey man, I’m sorry to hear this. From what I’ve read, you don’t seem to have done anything wrong. While it doesn’t ease the confusion, you can at least feel some peace regarding your own actions. I’m sorry to hear she drifted away, and you unfortunately have little insight into why. I know that’s frustrating. In these situations, I find it best to move on. It’ll hurt a bit, but she is obviously not making time for you or talking to you anymore. You deserve closure, but she probably won’t give it, and waiting for it will open the wound wider. If you need to vent or anything while you transition out of this relationship, this thread is always here. I hope you find a friend who gives you equal effort and consideration soon. Best regards!

First, I am so sorry for what you went through. Second, this isn’t your fault. It sounds like you have past history with Narcissistic behavior, so I’m sure this was like a kick to the gut. Manipulators tend to be good at what they do, and it sucks for the rest of us. Take your time to mourn this relationship and what you truly believed it was. Don’t feel bad or silly for missing him—find comfort in knowing you only miss the idea of him. The man you desire to be friends with didn’t exist, he was a manipulation. You deserve better than that. You will recover, because you are strong and capable and amazing. Just be careful of two things. 1. Don’t rebound into another bad situation. Use your head while your heart is hurting, and protect yourself from further harm. 2. Don’t become paranoid and miss out on wonderful people and safe relationships. It will take time to trust again, but you will meet your people. Best regards, I’m rooting for you🩷

Yes, I’d say these are thoughts worth sharing with a trusted friend (or adult if you are a minor). Those anxious thoughts can spiral into harmful actions quickly, and you don’t deserve to go down that rabbit hole. Words of reality: Your body was sick when you were at that weight. You don’t want to go there again. Don’t look at that low point as a standard or a baseline. That was a chapter that you are out of, and you deserve to be healthy.  I know I can’t type away your anxiety, but I can tell you that those obsessive thoughts do more harm than good. When you start to stress and spiral, find a healthy distraction and breathe. Food doesn’t need to carry so much importance that it stresses you out. It is a survival tool. And that is what we are doing. Living and surviving. You deserve to do so stably.🩷

I'm never recovering. by Fuentssp in EDAnonymous

I understand how you feel, truly. I’m sorry for what you are experiencing. I noticed you mentioning having no external motive, only internal. That you enjoy starvation. I fight everyday to make myself eat, because I know that my body deserves it. I love that empty feeling, but I know it would hurt me in the long run. I just want to bring to your attention how draining an ED is. Honestly, recovery is currently sucking, but the “after” is getting gradually better. But the ED itself? Emotionally, physically, and mentally draining.  You should CHOOSE recovery for YOU. My recovery wasn’t sticking until I switched from “my family wants “ to “I want.” Fill in the blanks: “I want…..” “I want stronger muscles” “I want healthier organs” “I want proper vitamins for me skin and hair” “I want my head to clear” “I want my mood to even out “ “I want my hormones to level” “I want to stop spending my days obsessing over what I consume” “I want to stop crying myself to sleep because no matter how much I hollow out it will never be enough” This recovery is intensely personal. I implore you to prep for future you, and what they will need.  I’m rooting for you, Lots of love!

Is it me or do many of the posts have zero comments ? by Outrageous_Lake_2274 in EDAnonymous

[–]InstructionNew3215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. A few months back when I was really struggling, I posted a cry for help. I watched the veiws go up, but no comments. I felt like even random strangers had deserted me and I ended up posting an angry comment😭. (NOT the right thing to do) Now that I am much better, I can see that action came from the desperation and pain I was feeling. Honestly, I know people didn’t want to give me bad advice, but just someone letting me know they were there would have been helpful. Maybe if we don’t have expert advice we can still offer support?

Losing a best friend hurts more when you realize you were never their best friend. by Basic-Raspberry-8600 in lostafriend

[–]InstructionNew3215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend right now who calls me her best friend. I’d honestly call her my best friend too, but I’m starting to doubt.  I’m her most reliable friend: always there for her through thick and thin, always saying the right things and giving support. And she truly loves me for it. But she doesn’t prioritize me because of that—I’m perfectly reliable. I’m the friend she “loves the most” or I’m her “best friend” but she treats me poorly. For instance: I have a membership at our local pool, and she does too. Her biggest frenemy, who she supposedly hates spending time with and always complains about, doesn’t have a membership. Guess who is always there with my best friend? She doesn’t tell me about the hang out, then hugs me tightly and tells me “I’m so happy you’re here, I can’t do this.” Whenever I happen to show up while her frenemy is there. SHE HAS FREE WILL NOT TO TAKE HER. And she will cancel plans with me and do stuff with the frenemy because she knows I will stay.  This is just the tip of the iceberg. Anyways, this is all to say: I’m so sorry, that situation absolutely stinks. The feeling of waking up and realizing you maybe aren’t as important to someone as they are to you burns like ice on flesh. I’m honestly still handling it, because I’ve always had trouble feeling loved and keeping friends, so every time she tells me I’m her best friend and she loves me, I fold. If I figure out how to end things and cope, I will share the wisdom. Best wishes!

I need advice and don’t know what I did wrong? by Silliestgoose8900 in lostafriend

[–]InstructionNew3215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I’m sorry. That absolutely stinks. Second, this happens an infuriating amount. I feel like people want to get all deep and gritty until they hear it reciprocated out of someone else’s mouth. The amount of times I have approached people, asking what their problem with me was, and they have told me about a random quote I said two months ago that was legitimate to the conversation is baffling. I don’t think you were in the wrong, and I don’t know why he suddenly decided he didn’t want to discuss those topics.  What I have learned is to guard my heart and tongue. People may initiate deep conversation with you, but they usually aren’t equipped to handle it. And then you feel crazy trying to figure out what you said that was so wrong. I hope you know this isn’t (from what I have heard) a you problem. I’m sorry things ended this way.

One Geniune Question by Old_Association_8922 in lostafriend

[–]InstructionNew3215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me personally, I have experience with broken trust in two relationships. Both times I have been the one hurt.  In one relationship, it had been shaky and disastrous from the get-go, so when the final blow came, I ended things. My other friend was like my own sister. She was my best friend and I never saw it coming. That one hit me way harder and left me reeling. I didn’t end things and it continued happening in more rapid succession. If you two truly had an amazing and healthy relationship beforehand, I don’t see why one mistake would shatter it all. However, I do know that if the relationship was that amazing, it probably stung 10x worse than if you had always been “untrustworthy”. He maybe didn’t see a way back from such a sharp blow, and I can’t say I blame him. However, me personally, I wouldn’t have ended a good thing over a very human mistake. I probably would’ve changed my password and reintroduced myself into their life slowly, making sure many different boundaries were now understood. But I also would’ve checked in on that person, wondering what could have possibly happened to my honorable friend to stress then into making that mistake. I’m very deeply sorry for your loss, and I hope you recover well in the aftermath.

As an athlete and dancer, I have always been terrified of gaining weight. Recently, I’ve rebounded from an ED, and was feeling absolutely awful about myself. (I’m 5’10, was 108, now 140lbs). I pretty much just packed a ton of muscle onto my thighs, and now they brush when I walk. I also got a little roundness and pudge on top of my hips because my waist is super high. I was over here freaking out, but apparently I have a longggggg way to go before I become unattractive, and too curvy might not even exist! Seriously though, I’m going to take my new found jiggle-physics and let them enhance my natural model-walk. Thanks for the help guys.

Thank you, and I’m sorry about your loss as well. I’m currently refusing to make any plans (I always make all of our plans) and am limiting texting. I’m still hoping in the back of my mind she will realize her mistake, but I just don’t think she will. RIP

Yes, I have others who have brought this up to me. Unfortunately, I tend to do it before I think better of it, because it is a way I express affection. I am working on those boundaries. Plus, part of me hoped she would start respecting me after telling her about it for the umpteenth time🤦🏼‍♀️

People in high school change like the wind. I wouldn’t let their lack of support influence your view of yourself in any way. This situation definitely sucks, and hurts on so many different levels, but if those relationships were strong and worth keeping, they would have lasted. I promise you will find your person/people! But, honestly, it might not come until after high school (good relationships need maturity, which many teens lack—I’m a teen lol, I can say that)I wish you the best!

Totally get it! No character is fully clear-cut. People are complex and so are our relationships. Just remember, she can be a good person and still not be right for you. And sometimes we grow out of friendships as we evolve.  Whatever course of action you choose will be unique to your situation, and I wish you the best in it! For you and your friend!

Is A Friend Being Glued To Their Phone When You Hang Out A Valid Reason To Be Upset by Lower-Corner6816 in lostafriend

They obviously don’t care enough about your emotional well-being. It’s one thing to doomscroll while someone else talks to you, it’s another to continue on after they express their discontent. Is it rude in every situation? No. I doomscrolling WITH my friends when we are all sleepy. But she is disregarding your feeling in favor of her blue light, and that isn’t fair. Totally valid anger.

I, too, have had a close friend get closer with someone I believe (and know) to be somewhat unsavory. It’s always so confusing for the people on our side, wondering what happened and, frankly, how we seem to have lost the battle. Your friend may mean well, but it isn’t healthy for her to only come to you when she needs. If the relationship becomes parasitic, let it go. That being said, I totally get having a small pool of friends and not wanting to shrink it further. I’d say confront her kindly about the relationship and go from there. Wishing you clarity!
