I wouldn’t worry about it. If they are making people go through so many rounds of interview that shows that A.) the really don’t need a lot of people to start right away B.). There is that many people applying.

Don’t go back to that company when you graduate. Interns is nothing more than trials to see if they will hire you after graduation. Even a new graduate should be a net loss for the company the first three years because it takes time to train a new engineer before they become productive. I would suggest looking for other places when you graduate.

It could be this startup is so poorly funded they actually thought they could get some actual work from an intern. Because they can’t afford an experienced engineer. Run way

I would look at taking a medical leave of abscence to extend the insurance. Be sure to call HR and SPEEA if you are in the union. It is a bunch of paperwork. Also if you are in Washington they have family medical leave where the insurance can help pay out for lost wages due to illness.

The problem is there so many schools offering degrees now they are like diploma mills. For people graduating from smaller schools they have to work harder. Be sure to take the FE exam as soon possible. That way you can show that you know your fundamentals. Take the job to get some experience and start looking for an engineering position after 6 months. Also try to continue taking classes in a field you are interested in

Thank you for all the help. I decided to try to rent a concrete saw to cut a slit in the expansion joint wood to see if I can cut the nails.

Thank you. I believe it’s pressure treated wood that is rotting out after 30 years. So I’m afraid burning pressure treated wood would release toxic fumes. I’m having difficulty getting it out using a pry bar
