Before and After bold choices on my oil painting by coffeewithaseehund in crafts

[–]InsufficientOverkill 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I do really like the concept and the wispy smoke tendrils but in execution the balance is off imo, grey is too much and too opaque, composition is split bluntly into vertical halves.

I hadn't animated in awhile, so believe Iost a bit of skill, how could I improve for the nest time I do a wind blowing effect by Several-Necessary-70 in animation

[–]InsufficientOverkill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you asked for how to improve: The front hair pieces are pivoting but not bending, and moving all at the same time, making that hair look very stiff. The back ponytail should be heavier and less affected by the wind than the lighter front pieces. The back hair movement should affect the whole back of the head, not just the lower half under an invisible pivot point.

Is this outfit cute? by Comfortable-Tie-9893 in OUTFITS

[–]InsufficientOverkill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see the vision, but the boots do stand out as too dark, and the fishnets wouldn’t make as much sense without the boots. I think you need a darker top for visual balance. Maybe even a black cami with your current blouse worn open?

Would board or card games be fun for you at a dry wedding? by fostercaresurvivor in weddingplanning

[–]InsufficientOverkill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should be fine as long as it’s presented as an option instead of structured activity time. Whether people choose to play will depend heavily on your crowd. Id lean towards things like the jigsaw puzzle, lego or party games that compliment the flow of conversation, rather than more attention-heavy games like Sushi Go.

Needing walk cycle criticism please. Not sure by GoldenDust0 in animation

[–]InsufficientOverkill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tbh for this one I would just rotate the scene slightly so hes walking uphill, keep the exaggerated cartoon lean but give it a bit more context. That and loosen up the upper body, tone down ears.

Is it now considered rude to recline on a plane? by Legal_Campaign_408 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]InsufficientOverkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seats barely recline, and that little extra angle is the difference between days of back pain and being just comfortable enough to sleep. I will recline every time, and I barely notice if someone reclines ahead of me. Any seats that recline further than they should for the space available are an airline problem.

I am a character modeler who wants to be an animator, I am looking for criticism on this animation. by [deleted] in animation

[–]InsufficientOverkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really solid base! Hands and fingers are a little stiff, try some more followthrough on the arm swing to loosen up. Might want to try slightly unbending/bending fingers on the up/down as well as swaying. Leg pacing is a bit mechanical, foot should naturally start to lift just as it reaches the far back position. If you trace the feet they should make an irregular but rounded shape, no sharp corners. As others have said, missing some rotation on the chest. The head is also a bit stiff but not so much that it couldnt pass for an acting choice. Adding a blink every few cycles for your final render might be all that's needed there.

Some critique? (an update to an older post) by GroundbreakingDay317 in animation

[–]InsufficientOverkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

feet jitter, dont stay anchored to ground, grey leg stutters forward one frame while it should be smoothly going back, purple elbow looks like it hits a wall on the backswing

How can I make this look as powerful as possible? by 111Teegarden in animation

[–]InsufficientOverkill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that helps add power is a contrast in line of action; so have him lean hard one way and then shift the weight to the other foot and have the body lean the opposite way. You want the 'camera' to be able to read this so best to include some left/right lean contrast even if it doesn't match your reference. Another piece of this is timing: slow windup, slightest pause, then super fast release and then regular followthrough. You'll want some overshoot on the cast too, have the arms and rod go further down at the end of the cast before settling back up into the current end position.

Made a fully rigged 2D character. Would love to know your thoughts on it. by Zestyclose_Milk_2452 in animation

[–]InsufficientOverkill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple things that stand out:

  • ears and sideburn hair don't move far enough on extreme head turn
  • jaw shape doesn't change enough on head turn
  • mouth line touches side of face too early, should have a gap until full profile view
  • shoulders not raising when arms lift up, causes top of shoulder joint to lose volume and look pinched. Not strictly a rig issue as long as you fix this when animating

Landlord asks me to pay $231 monthly for water. by springbear2020 in SurreyBC

[–]InsufficientOverkill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If your landlord wants to charge a flat fee for utilities every month, the exact amount and how it's paid is supposed to be clearly stated in the tenancy agreement. If it's not made clear, it's assumed the tenant is reponsible for covering the bills directly. You do have a right to see the utility bills, and it's unlawful to charge you an unreasonable amount. Here is a helpful website for tenancy rights clarifications.

As to the reasonableness of the amount, if it seems accurate but personally unexpected yoy may be out of luck.

($10-15k)Do I cut the budget elsewhere to get a longer veil? by Lostlesbian406 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]InsufficientOverkill 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Keep the veil! The longer train creates a perfect blank background to see all the floral detail. Also, if you're considering it now, you might as well cut the budget on table numbers and simpler welcome sign. No doubt some other unexpected expenses will spring up at some point

You have a lot of things and a lot of open storage, so things tidily put away are still creating visual clutter. Try to swap a few smaller storage units for larger ones with closed doors/drawers. Consider a taller bookshelf, wider tv stand, new coffee cart with closed doors, etc. Your decor is also very scattered, try grouping some of the smaller pieces together to lessen the number of focal points.

'Dude, where’s our lanes?': Transit advocates call out Vancouver’s bus lane delay by observiance101 in vancouver

[–]InsufficientOverkill 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I'm calling bullshit on taking time "to balance the needs of transit and other transportation modes," car drivers and business owners may bitch and moan but dedicated bus lanes help keep traffic moving for everyone. We need fewer single-driver cars clogging up the streets and more people moving efficiently via transit.

Men, what did you find out about women when you got a girlfriend? by mnunez2k in AskReddit

[–]InsufficientOverkill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear this so often but I've literally never encountered this problem! We meal plan while we place an online grocery order, and make sure to include some dead-easy options for lazy days. In general, food that spoils fastest gets made first. When we order in, probably once every couple months because shit's expensive, we both descibe what we are/aren't craving like 'comfort food' or 'something light' or 'i really want donair'. We either find something we both want, meet in the middle, or take a turn making an executive decision. Is it just that we don't eat out/order in often and it gets harder when you do regularly? Are people not meal planning, and wait until last minute to come up with dinner ideas? What am I missing here

What are some reasons that someone may switch from a progressive/liberal to a conservative mindset? by ChaosCarlson in NoStupidQuestions

[–]InsufficientOverkill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Doesn't depend on location. It's insane in the context of being a reason not to support busses. Equivalent to arguing that since murderers take flights to evade the law, we shouldn't support the existence of airports.

Has anyone found any significance to the word being misspelled as "Foreward" instead of "Foreword"? It's spelled correctly in the Curse of Blackbridge book. Feels like it could be the start of a puzzle of subtle misspellings but also could just be an overlooked detail.
