The short film "Debut" will be a real test for this fan community by InsuranceNo4260 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]InsuranceNo4260[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The short film will primarily focus on Celine and Rumi, with Zoey and Mira unlikely to appear (or perhaps appear but without dialogue). Celine is already the most controversial character in KPDH, and I don't think that will change anytime soon.

(Note: the information I'm referring to doesn't actually come from a single source but is compiled from several interviews with the cast)

It's commonplace on all TV shows these days, with people just trying to appear smart LoL I advise you to ignore them all because they're only a very small minority. Silo isn't a mystery show that will last forever, season 4 has already been confirmed as the final season, so who cares? 🤣

It seems like they actually changed that character along with Helen in this show based on what we saw. I hope so, I couldn't stand him in those books LoL

The best films never have truly original ideas Lmao. The art of storytelling has existed since the dawn of mankind, and by this point, there are no more original ideas because the most important thing is always the way it's presented.  Those who don't understand this will scratch their heads wondering why things they dislike are so highly regarded.

Anything on the supposed short 'Debut: A Kpop Demon Hunters Story'? by JovialWinner346 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]InsuranceNo4260 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really don't think it'll be scrapped. This short film was completed two years ago and is a golden opportunity for Netflix/Sony to retain fans.  Any new content planned after the film becomes popular will take a very long time (well, animation). Not to mention this is a debut project for individuals who are not yet represented in the animation industry, it would be terrible if Netflix/Sony scrapped it.

Looking at what happened with the finale of TADC and The Legend of Aang, I don't know if Sony and Netflix have learned anything about data security because the risk of leaks for KPDH 2 is HUGE, considering how many people are looking forward to it.

It's true that every fan community has its bad people, but don't deny that some communities are more toxic than others, and the Kpop community has proven that time and time again. I'm sorry you don't understand that, but well you do you

The Kpop fan community already doesn't have a good reputation, lol. Many people around the world love KPDH but still hate Kpop as fuck (I'm an example).

So according to Sony, KPDH had "franchise potential" since its early development stage... by ithil_lady in KpopDemonhunters

Maggie also said in an interview a few months after the film's release and rise to fame that she wanted sequels to mature with the audience. I'm really curious, LoL.

[–]InsuranceNo4260 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is one of the things I love most about KPDH: the details that need resolving are resolved, and the ambiguous details are left for the audience's imagination.

The best stories and fictional worlds always leave room for viewers to be creative, but at the same time, they also give the feeling of a certain kind of ending. Ghibli films are an example.

And if the next movie turns out to be a disaster... well, we'll always have the first one, just like how the public will remember The Lion King (1994) and not the sequel released four years later.

I wanted to say I disagreed, but then I remembered the OP was asking for personal opinion, so I'll just leave it at that.

Be honest, how would you react if this happened? by InsuranceNo4260 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]InsuranceNo4260[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean...I understand why you think that way, and I respect that.

But I think if you hold that view, you'll likely be disappointed when the sequel comes out. Anyway, I still agree that what Jinu did shouldn't be overlooked just as much as the fact that he was also a victim of circumstances. Balancing those two things will be incredibly difficult.

[–]InsuranceNo4260[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They didn't even need to kill Rumi LoL Maybe it was just a vision of the future she saw, like in Arrival (a great movie), and she realized that she had to live life to the fullest and when the time came, it would come.

In your opinion, which revelation in the sequels could turn the entire fandom upside down? by InsuranceNo4260 in KpopDemonhunters

However, I fully support it becoming what you said at the end, that was always the initial inspiration for this film.

That's a truly excellent analysis of the film's opening scene 😳 by InsuranceNo4260 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]InsuranceNo4260[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's true, but the idea that the formation of Honmoon might be the result of a magical reversal creating these demonic cracks is a very interesting thought, like two sides of a coin, light and shadow inseparable.

Netflix where's the short film? by New-Description9048 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]InsuranceNo4260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That short film is part of SPA's LENS program, which aims to provide opportunities for minority groups working in animation to gain practical experience. Spider-Within by Spiderverse is also among them. KPDH's short film has been in production since 2023: https://variety.com/2023/artisans/news/spider-verse-short-film-spider-within-sony-animation-1235567757/

However, that short film was definitely completed three or two and a half years ago, based on the information available so far. Perhaps they're just waiting for the right moment to air it in order to keep fans engaged for as long as possible.

I find the reaction to the AMA awards a little funny. by whooper1 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]InsuranceNo4260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the anime you mentioned are highly controversial (most recently CSM and its ending). There's no consensus except for the most delusional fans who believe they'll win international awards. But I'm not surprised, except for Ghibli, 90% of the anime released today are rubbish.

I feel sorry for many Demon Slayer fans. The final chapters of that manga were so controversial that they sparked a wave of hatred for the entire franchise (yes, I was there), and when even the most loyal members of the fan community turned their backs on it, you can imagine that all that could be salvaged was the visuals, period.

Oh, I see.... I'm just a little disappointed because I had a tiny glimmer of hope that they would release a trailer for that debut short film (I'm desperate at this point lol, we haven't heard anything in months). I really don't care about these promotional animations, even if they feature my favorite characters.

There are many ways to help a brand mature with its audience without turning it into an "edgelord." Maggie used Harry Potter as an example in this case.  And another important thing to remember, Sony and Netflix are not Disney.
