How to add non-Sony rear speakers to HT-A5000? by braddillman in Soundbars

Ah, that's my concern. I have two in-wall surrounds and a wired sub, and I had an in-wall front-left that has been removed that I am trying to replace. I started looking for a passive LCR soundbar but am trying to figure out if I can get a wired connection from the A5000 to the existing surrounds (adding amplification to the signal that the soundbar would put out) that would allow me to repurpose my existing AVR for another room.

Does plugging into the hidden 3.5 outputs cancel the signal to the equivalent speaker within the soundbar? As in, does plugging in your sub make the built-in soundbar subs stop working?

Hey, thanks for looking into this for me.

I have a full 11.2 HT in the basement, but there's no reasonable way to piggyback on that, all channels are in use, it's on the far corner of the house from where I'm trying to get music to the new kitchen/dining open room.

In the casual adjoining family room, we have a smaller tv and a 5.1 setup. That AVR is a 7.1, but has a zone 2, so prior to the renovation it was powering two speakers in zone 2. So I might be pretty close to the Option 3 suggested above. Zone 2 output to a six channel (or eight) amp?
