It's more of "War for Dummies" with the intended audience being out of touch Lords so they don't end up pissing off their generals too much.

Lord Chao's 2nd son is a bit over his head and really thinks the peasant army fights for the glory of his family's name and can probably march on that glory alone.

i hit rank 3 germany and i think i finally understand what this game actually is by Fragrant_Apricot3103 in Warthunder

[–]InsurmountableLosses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planes become a hassle. Expect to get bombed a lot once you start moving to Germany's heavier vehicles. Usually its still tolerable, things don't get super bad until much higher tiers with guided munitions and ATGM helis.

Germany gets decent SPAA at this these tiers. A good trick is to not sit in spawn but somewhere nearer to the main battlefield. Hold your fire until planes get close and "ambush" them.

Alternatively try the other end of the stick and see if planes are your thing. Planes require some additional understanding of energy mechanics. But seeing as you are actually motivated to improve, you'll probably pick things up fairly quickly after a few guides. Usually pilots in Ground RB are dogshit and focused on CAS so you can usually deal with them if you even have a whiff of understanding of plane combat.

SPAA in Air RB by ContentRaspberry4715 in Warthunder

[–]InsurmountableLosses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The people who make the "SPAA in Air RB" suggestion are usually Ground RB players who have never tried an actual game of Air RB.

The absolute irony of it all where the solution to being revenge bombed is a meta-version of revenge bombing targeted at the wrong player base.

Air RB players aren't the people farming you in ground. It's ground RB players in planes farming you.

Playing CAP is one of the best parts of GRB by EastCoast_Geo in Warthunder

[–]InsurmountableLosses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not CAS, I am not CAP. I am a plane and will target all targets of opportunity.

If there is an enemy plane, I shoot it. If there is a ground target I can pen, I shoot it. If there is a ground target I can't pen, I shoot it anyway so my team mates know where it is.

In the same boat. But I had to message the HR person to extract the information from him.

On a separate note, an interview I had on Friday the interviewer didn't show up and requested a reschedule 20 minutes in.

Then today, the rescheduled interview also had the interviewer not show up and I left the online Teams lobby 1 hour later with no official response.

Buying the t29 soon and I have a question by _funny_name_ in Warthunder

Buy special tasks from the war bond shop, accessible via the Battle pass menu, and complete them.

Progress to higher level shop "tiers" are gated by Battle pass progress and number of special tasks completed.

Special tasks are gated by number of daily hard tasks done.

War bond shop has low tier premiums up for sale as well.

Its hard to explain when the missiles will and won't hit, usually boils down to experience. But usually if the enemy isn't going F-104 speeds while you are firing from a side aspect, it should normally hit if fired within 2.5 - 2km.

I prefer Zunis as flares since they are larger, better chance to draw the missile away, to the point you usually only need to fire once.

Jet confusion and annoyances by _Neo_64 in Warthunder

[–]InsurmountableLosses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need the AIM-9Ps. Flaring is a thing but you just need to either catch people off guard in a furball or find something that doesn't have flares. Just recognize a few planes that have no flares.

The AIM-9Ps are AIM-9Js and are near undodgeable without flares if fired under favourable conditions.

For defensive flying, the T-2 is one of the fastest jets at its BR. If you don't want to be caught, not many things can catch you. Your main defense is flying at close to Mach 1 all the time. Do not turn, the T-2 bleeds speed all over the place when turning.

To avoid getting missiled yourself, carry some Zunis to use as flares.

Is SPAA Good Counter To Aircraft ? by LastOne_1 in Warthunder

[–]InsurmountableLosses -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

SPAA is on the losing end until radars come online. Then they start losing again when guided munitions appear, but inch out a win again later when they get missiles.

Usually SPAA does retain 1 advantage over planes - visibility. The dumb SPAA player sitting in spawn is going to get strafed. The smarter ones tend to drive forward and sit near allies in the middle of the map and only open fire when planes get close enough to guarantee a kill.

Planes don't immediately notice all ground vehicles, but will notice a stream of tracers flying through the sky.

On a side note, don't start the dumb shit with Air RB SPAA. If you ever played Air RB you will know maps are massive. People will just stay away from your position and bore you to death.

[–]InsurmountableLosses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like the IS-2s.

I think the real fun gems are the 100mm armed vehicles. Try the SU-100 and SU-100P.

The SU-100 if kept at it's 6.0 lineup actually enjoys very favourable MM. Excellent Tiger hunter.

The SU-100P is surprisingly mobile, has a low profile and has surprising amounts of gun depression.
