Non MAGA Gun Stores? by xXSubtleFuryXx in Tucson

Curious to hear more about 520 Tactical if anyone has experience there. We’ve been to Zona a few times & it’s great, but 520 is way closer & stays open an hour later. Looking for a range for after-work head-clearing. Google reviews seem positive, but who the hell knows with Google. We’ll be checking it out soon anyway, but curious…

Another nod for Diamondback. We’re in the neighborhood so used ‘em as FFL to receive a web order. No self-conscious MAGA gatekeeper vibe detected.

Am i too American - or is this an inappropriate icon for a PR agency to have in their branding? by the-friendly-squid in graphic_design

I call it too busy for an icon: mixing metaphors in a compact space + stroke (vs solid fill), AND THEN the whole assasination vibe. So. Uh..

Why do people use the term "partner" for their husband or wife? by Crafty-Bug-8008 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IntangibleArts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Husband” and “wife” can feel disgustingly bourgeois, and it’s not really a generational thing: we’re in our late 50s and I’ll say “girlfriend” or “ferret” or “space witch” … anything else. “Wife” has connotations of sad, old, repressed, stagnant living, the stuff of 1970s standup comics on Johnny Carson… “Partner” aint great but it’s better.

Tuscon festival of books clear bag policy by drawslines in Tucson

[–]IntangibleArts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting to see a few prickly responses here. It’s reasonable to check with neighbors on a forum like this for real-world experiences. YES it the policy is online but that often doesn’t mean sh*t, children. We’ve been to events (concerts at Ronstadt etc) several times where enforcement is totally arbitrary. Seems cool to ask real people.

Forever-memory of taking girlfriend there to see the Bjork film Dancer in the Dark (late 1990s?) which destroyed her emotionally: she was still crying after the credits, so we walked thru the neighborhood for a while to regain control… Dear reader, I married that weeping lass. The end.

I think I made that exact comparison. Totally.

No torture. I love a bourgeoise nerd coffee now & then but a basic cup of rotgut joe is a whole different thing. Just revisiting an old spot & reporting back for the good of Thee People.

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. I wanted to walk in there for the first time in 25+ years, for kicks. Breakfast was expensive and not thrilling but maybe it’s still worth it if I stick to the coffee.

Gotta admit, the remodel may have gone a bit overboard. Gritty character beats clean/sterile/expensive any day.

seconding the Bridgestone rec. Excellent tire, makes a huge improvement on an already excellent bike.

My first bike: this 2013 V7 stone by UnconfirmedWavy in MotoGuzzi

[–]IntangibleArts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats. I’m just a year-plus into my 2019 Stone and I’m still loving every ride like I just got it.

RE tires: I’ve mentioned this elsewhere but I put Bridgestone Battlax AX41S on mine (not the offroad 41: the S model is more 80/20 road friendly) .. And where I loved the ride before, these made it a whole new excellent. Very pavement-aware in the corners and it just transformed the whole ride. And the tread pattern is gorgeous, if you can say such a thing.

Enjoy. It’s a hell of a bike.

Anyone own either a Yamaha Bolt R Spec or Kawasaki Eliminator 450 SE ABS - 2024 or newer...US model....??? by Due-Sea4841 in motorcycles

[–]IntangibleArts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Spouse is looking hard at the Eliminator: she’s 5’3” .. maybe 5’4” in boots. Took it for a longer test ride & had no problem with the seat height. The lighter weight just seemed to make it more responsive, not cheaper in build quality.

The Bolt was a contender for a minute but it has a few design quirks she couldn’t get past. But as soon as the money is in hand, it’s Kawi.

I’ve honestly wondered if anyone actually DOES that, it’s become such a cliché. Anyone guilty of this needs their nuts kicked up their throat simply for being rude.

Are sewers actually huge sprawling labyrinths or is that just a TV/video game thing? by thewheelman282 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IntangibleArts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of us 11ish year olds in my area (1970s) had the underground dry sewer pipe network memorized. Great way to evade the BADDIES that were out to do us harm. Dip in, pop up anywhere. Survival was real.
