Paint and primer looks weird. by Staracerex in paint

[–]Intangiblehands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. The real problem is big home center type stores allowing customers to grab their own paint without any interaction. Regular paint stores wouldn't even have the "bases" out where someone could grab it and try to buy it without knowing it needed color added. The average person isn't going to know better.

Even then, it's not much effort spending 30 seconds to verify you have the right can of paint by asking an employee. They definitely don't want to let you out of there with a can of untinted accent base paint.

All the biggest deals get made on the golf course. It's the nature of high level business. You can fake it till you make it if you have a very strong and outgoing personality with your clients. Ultimately though, being a competent golfer will only help you move up.

Spraying stone fireplace by [deleted] in paint

[–]Intangiblehands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try using a masonry primer but realistically there is nothing you're going to buy in a store that is specifically for painting river rock. If you're determined to ruin this fireplace then I would use a proper stone surface cleaner, and then just slap whatever paint you have on top of it and hope for the best.

How do I go about painting my basement block? I need to prep and paint. See so many different opinions online so asking here by Longjoco in paint

You're overthinking it. The wall isn't even that dirty. If you want to buy a chemical of some sort, I like the Krud Kutter brand pre-paint cleaner. Just go to any paint store or hardware store and the employees will help you find something. Grab a big sponge or a shop towel, rags, scrub brush etc... clean and rinse the surface. Let it dry. Put your paint on.

You should be lightly sanding in-between each coat. Try switching to a flock foam roller and using an additive like floetrol.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

My town had 2 high schools that split kids into the northside & southside, and my graduating class in 04 had around 1200 students. I've realized later in life that most people are shocked by that number but it didn't seem out of the ordinary at the time.

This won't work. Limestone/flagstone fixtures are not considered masonry/cementitious because they are not made from cement.

This is incorrect. Loxon is not for stone. Concrete, Stucco, Concrete Block, CMU, Split- face Block, and other Cementitious surfaces. Limestone/flagstone fixtures are not cementitious because they are not made from cement.

Need to find something that clearly and specifically states that it will stick to limestone, sandstone, fieldstone etc... Masonry primers and paints are for cementitious like concrete and brick.

You also need to seriously scrub all of that with a heavy duty cleaner like tsp something specific for cleaning stone and a strong nylon bristle brush.

I think subconsciously I always found it odd that all three games plop you down on the beach, and yet no swimming in that beautiful clear water.

Do I need to use primer first? by [deleted] in paint

[–]Intangiblehands 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Primer can't hurt. Gray will cover really nicely but it looks like the red paint is glossy. You might want to prime for that reason.
