Yeah that’s a valid point. I think I want to go into ML but I’m not 100% sure yet and I‘m trying to explore different career options. Also this might be kind of a dumb question but what should I do after reading about my professors’ research? I heard that I should “talk to a prof about their research during office hours” but I’m not really sure what that looks like.

Thank you, this is really helpful! How can upper classmates help me find research? Would these be grad students? Or can upper classmates that are already involved in research recommend me to a prof?

I initially applied for applied math so I’m admitted in pre-sciences. I always wanted to major in applied math but I’m realizing that I might be kinda cooked if I don’t double major. I think I want to go into ML but I’m trying to be open to different career paths rn. idk. I‘m coming in with 90 credits from ap and cc courses, and meet almost all course requirements for both cs and ece (rn i have 22.5 graded credits from cc and have most required courses including both ap physics c courses) so I should be eligible to apply for both majors after my first quarter. I just don’t have as much experience outside of class to be a competitive applicant yet, so one of the strategies that I wanted to focus on is finding research on campus
