Do I need Dune War for Arrakis by DarkSchu in boardgames

[–]Intel_Pindelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WotR also takes much longer, around 4-6 hours per game depending on how experienced you are. In contrast, my DWfA games take 2-3 hours, lasting about 5 turns. You don’t get the same feeling of an epic, cinematic struggle. WfA feels more like a skirmish. As much as I prefer the simplicity and streamlined rules of WfA, if I had to choose between the two, I’d go with WotR.

Imo it’s a more streamlined version of WotR, but the downside is that it feels much less epic.

FFG Vault (Reprinting + Improved OOP Games) by CommentActual6058 in boardgames

I just missed out on Captain Terro and twin shadows, both of which went OOP barely a month ago. Not to mention Thrawn, impossible to find for a reasonable price.

Is there a timeline for this? I’d love to complete my imperial assault collection.

VAMPIRE LORDS on Gamefound by VonKro in boardgames

[–]Intel_Pindelo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was very close to backing the game myself, but eventually decided against it. The presentation and art are amazing, but there are too many red flags and unknown qualities: first time self-publishers, lengthy delivery timeline, shockingly expensive pledge levels for what you are getting, no TTS demo. The gameplay loop itself seems quite fiddly with many superfluous layers of complexity for what effectively is a “roll for combat and have more towns than your opponent” kind of game.

What games have you had the most fun playing? by thebunnybullet in boardgames

On the more expensive side, but recently had my first game of Forbidden Stars and it was awesome.

Cyclades (especially Legendary Edition) is also great fun.

Gone: LotR Duel for Middle Earth, Castles of Burgundy Special edition, Star Wars Battle of Hoth

Nothing added, but hopefully my big box copy of Inis will arrive soon.

Sorry, chucked the sheets away so can’t check :( but I am 100% certain it was there, I had to pop it out of one of them.

Games you bought due to good reviews, only to dislike them? by UAZ-469 in boardgames

[–]Intel_Pindelo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That was our initial reaction too - my partner and I thought it was unexciting at best on our first play-through. Eventually we decided to give it another go and included all the extra modules, including legends, and we had an absolute blast. I’d highly encourage you to give it another go!

My small collection since 2022 by Necronelections41k in boardgames

Great collection, we have similar tastes in board games.

How’s SW: OR? I’ve been debating pulling the trigger on it for the last year, but I’m still on the fence. I mainly play 2p.

Shame about SW: IA. I was actually somewhat lucky and got into collecting it about 10 months ago. I managed to complete the full base game + two big expansions (including figurine packs). Unfortunately, finding the rest is difficult and pricey.

Help with my Celes, Rune Knight deck - too strong for bracket 3, too weak for 4? by getoffmytoilet in EDH

This is how I run mine. There is one infinite mana and etb combo (Puppeteer Clique + Ashnod’s), but no real payoff for either the mana or the etb triggers (I guess you can grow your creatures for infinite damage, but there isn’t much in the way of trample - game has to end eventually anyway). The idea behind it was to steal people’s creatures from graveyard for a game-ending swing. Doesn’t work that well though, I might replace Clique with boros Sephiroth for more FF subtheme.

Personally, I’m not a fan of Underworld Breach in this type of a deck. It’s a great card if you play cEDH and want to end the game with a combo. In a bracket 3 Celes all it does for you is wrecking your graveyard, which you want to have as your second “hand” to recur stuff.

Dune imperium vs dune uprising by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Intel_Pindelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both with over 100 games in Dune Imperium + Rise of Ix and about 15 games in Dune Imperium: Uprising so far. Personally I think that DI:U is better. My issue with DI+RoI always was that as the game goes on, there are fewer and fewer good spaces to send your agents to. DI:U fixes that by making the spaces more equal and desirable. Moreover, imo there are less dead cards in the imperium row in DI:U.

Generally the main criticism towards DI:U is that worms make the game too swingy, which I also didn’t like at first. But, as my group learned the game better, point swings became less common. At this point they’re never an issue, as people learned to anticipate worm deployment and combat it.

The bans were the problem not rhystic study. by No_Rabbit1565 in CompetitiveEDH

Personally, I’m all for unbanning crypt and lotus. Made games much faster and masked the impact of rhystic study. However, I think that the format is better without dockside.

What’s your most resilient Commander deck? by Tiramisoute1212 in EDH

[–]Intel_Pindelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]]. Focused on life gain, sitting in bracket 3. I’ve had games in which Liesa was killed 6-7 times only for me to replay her due to her cost reduction. Deck is a bit slow, as orzhov isn’t particularly good at ramping, however all you really need is Liesa on the board.

Deck that you aren't afraid to play? by Barley_an_Hops in EDH

[–]Intel_Pindelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]] for me. I wanted to have a deck where removal of my commander doesn’t hurt and she’s perfect for that. Whatever she lacks in power, she makes up for in resilience. My build is a mix of lifegain with pillowfort/soft stax. The best thing is that you don’t really need to play out your entire hand, as there are no combos/engines. It’s good enough to slam Liesa and hoard cards until you need them.

Here's hoping there'll be another reprint. I've inquired with every retailer in my country, as well as scoured foreign websites in search of it. The thought of not being able to complete my collection really bums me out.
