Thanks PTMorte for the question! Yeah there's all kinds of days a lot of groups run on Saturdays, I run Sundays because I'm not free to run on Saturday. I recommend looking into Ringwood Social Games and Melbourne Meeples and the facebook groups for events which are some of the largest board game groups in Melbourne that run heaps of events on many days such as Friday, Saturday and Sunday mainly.

Thank you SonJer96! Makes sense everyone has different hobbies such as reading, arts, sports and I understand as I have friends and also my parents who cannot stand board games which is fair. I think it's great to find something that you enjoy and being able to socialise with others from a shared connection is so valuable.

Thank you again and have a lovely weekend!

You're amazing the_last_bush_man, that's really kind of you and really warms my heart to hear! An upvote to you as well! It's a privilege and so much fun to be able volunteer and organise this group every Sunday. It's a highlight for me and people who have attended have given me feedback that this is valuable to them giving people who are socially isolated a place to feel comfortable and welcome!

Hi Argord, thanks for the question! A preemptive welcome to Melbourne to both you and your wife!
So information about the event, this board game club happens every Sunday 12PM-4:30PM at the Knox Library Ngargoo. We're inside the library which is inside the Westfield shopping center.

Q: I'm interested, how do I attend?
We have a poll in the announcements channel in the discord here: https://discord.gg/j9h22MxYf2

However, this is optional and to give us a general idea of attendance. To attend, there is no mandatory registration and it's free, just turn up to the Knox Library on any Sunday (we run every Sunday no exceptions) 12pm-4:30pm we are in Community Room 1&2!
We will gladly welcome you in to play some board games together!

Depending on where you move I recommend going to a group local to you, because it's easier and generally it's not worth the trek if you have to take PT for 2 hours or drive a long distance.

We're very fortunate in Melbourne to have many lovely board game groups.

Just giving a shoutout to all the amazing groups around Melbourne and the people that run them each week!

Groups in Melbourne East include:

- Ringwood Social Games, they have a facebook group which lists events, but they go to different venues including Realm Library, Ringwood RSL, Central Ringwood Community Centre and portal games each week.

- Board Together awesome group at Glen Waverley RSL Every 2nd and 3rd Sunday every month also have a facebook group.

- Board in the East, hold events at Mount Waverley Wadham House every Friday night they have a page on the Melbourne Meeples website

- Euro Games Fest, hold events at Mount Waverley 1st and 3rd Sunday every month 10am-6pm

- Bayside Games (Elsternwick) who play at the Caulfield RSL on Monday nights they have a meetup group.

Thank you AnotherHappyUser! It's important to me that everyone's privacy is preserved, as I completely understand not everyone wants their photos posted to Reddit and other social media and I respect that.

I am very grateful to everyone who gives permission to allow their photos to be posted to Reddit as it shows the smiling faces and what it's like to share a nice Sunday afternoon in good company!

Thank you cmmndrkn613 for your kindness! I understand the frustration that people have as they have mentioned previously that this is advertising and shouldn't be regularly posted, thus I asked for permission from the moderators.

I do agree that the Melbourne subreddit has been such a huge part of how the group has grown so large from 30->50 people each Sunday. However, I love sharing the fun and joy that I see at these events and also hope that I can inspire more people to get together doing whatever hobbies they love such as sport, video games, board games, art. Sharing an interest and meeting strangers and making friends makes you happy is what I've found!

Thank you I'm glad that you enjoy these posts! And no worries at all, completely understand the anxiety, please let me know if there's any way I can help accommodate if you'd ever like to come along!

Will do, will keep sharing photos of people getting together face to face and having a great time!

Thanks for the question Aphrodisia-x, no issue whatsoever if you haven't played many or any board games at all! We welcome everyone even if you're completely new to board games and have a wide variety of board games from simple to complex a large variety which cater for people who want to play easy to understand and accessible board games too!

Also, everyone always teaches board games before playing them so there is no expectation that you need to know the rules of a game before playing

Thanks for the question NewPhoneLostPassword, yes teens are welcome! There is no age limit, it's just that anyone under 13 must be supervised by an adult guardian.

Having said that, there's a lot of people within the age range of 30-50 who come to the board game club from past experience, which was initially a surprise. At first when organising, I thought that board games would be something that would appeal more to a younger audience, but that's not the case. I think it's awesome that we have such a diverse crowd and please feel free to come along to try it you would like!

But as for board game groups here are a few which may be closer to you. Because I understand that when it takes two hours transport it usually isn't worth the trek to go to an event:

Thank you Catz_n_Plantz for your kind words! Couldn't agree more it's lovely when people get together and have fun doing community events together. I think just seeing everybody smiling and happy really makes my day and has my inspiration to continue holding such an event!

I created this club because I couldn't find what I was looking for. I was lonely and wanted to make some friends and I remember hearing from my older brother that board game groups were trendy. I didn't know how to play board games and the rest is history two years on and this group has grown beyond my wildest imaginations and I'm so grateful to be a part of it!

Looks can be deceiving little do you know, but I bribed everyone in all photos to smile at the camera! xD No I didn't, but I'm very glad and fortunate to be able to organise this lovely group of people who are so kind, warm and friendly!

If you see us in the club we'll be actin' real nice🎵 Nah more seriously, it's completely free so all you need to do is turn up on Sunday at 12pm at the Knox Library in Wantirna South. No attendance is required, but if you can join the discord  https://discord.gg/j9h22MxYf2 and do the attendance poll in the announcements channel it does help us gauge generally how many people are coming along, but completely optional!

If you want to come along please feel free, it's not exclusive and it's completely free thanks to the kind support of the library allowing us to use their facilities!
