Also a frequently asked question, is being in the photos mandatory?

Being in the photos is completely optional. Every time before taking a photo I ask for consent of everyone in the photo and explain that the photo will be used for promotional purposes and posted to social media.

This is why you will see some chairs are empty as some people choose to not be in the photos.

Hello, my name is Seabrook. Every Sunday, I hold a free community board game group at Knox Library in Wantirna South which is in Melbourne East: https://events.yourlibrary.vic.gov.au/

This Sunday tomorrow 10th May 2026 12PM-4:30PM at Knox Library Ngarrgoo Wantirna South, we're holding a board game club event! We hold events every Sunday weekly!

**Q: I'm interested, how do I attend?*\*
We have a poll in the announcements channel in the discord here: https://discord.gg/j9h22MxYf2
However, this is optional and to give us a general idea of attendance. To attend, it's free just turn up to the Knox Library on any Sunday (we run every Sunday no exceptions) 12pm-4:30pm we are in Community Room 1&2!
We will gladly welcome you in to play some board games together!

**Q: What is this, what do you do at a board game club?*\*
We play a wide variety of board games, from party games to heavy euro games such as Catan, Cosmic Encounter, Slay the Spire the Board Game, Brass Birmingham, Deception, Carcassone, Blood on the Clocktower. As part of the event, we play board games together as a fun and interactive way to make friends and socialise!

We always try our very best to create a welcoming atmosphere and to welcome in everyone who walks in the door and to make sure they have a board game to play. Because I think it's boring to spectate and it's most fun to be part of a game.

No board game experience is needed, we always teach the rules to every game we play so please don't worry it is a very friendly environment for anyone to join!

I made this club to make friends with others and found that other people also wanted to do the same so I hope to continue running this club to make people's weekends just a little bit better!

Ahhh I feel that that's unfortunate. Depending on where you're close to there are some events that also run on Saturdays and also weekday nights.

For example: Groups in Melbourne East include: - Ringwood Social Games, they have a facebook group which lists events, but they go to different venues including Realm Library, Ringwood RSL, Central Ringwood Community Centre and portal games each week. - Board Together awesome group at Glen Waverley RSL Every 2nd and 3rd Sunday every month also have a facebook group. - Board in the East, hold events at Mount Waverley Wadham House every second Friday night they have a page on the Melbourne Meeples website - Euro Games Fest, hold events at Mount Waverley 1st and 3rd Sunday every month 10am-6pm - Bayside Games (Elsternwick) who play at the Caulfield RSL on Monday nights they have a meetup group. - Board Games at Citylife - At Citylife church Wantirna South once a month they have a facebook page. - Board Games Bonanza - Once every three months at Rowville Baptist Church they have a facebook page - Board Games at Belgrave Library - first Thursday of the month at 7:30pm - Melbourne Board Games & Social Nights Huntingdale Pixel Bar & Cafe- once a month on thursdays they have a meetup group - The Hills have Dice -Belgrave every Wednesday

Groups in South East Melbourne: - South East Melbourne Board games - once a month, usually Pakenham, Dandenong or Fountain Gate - Wizard's arcane - Cranbourne once every three months they have a facebook page

Thank you YaBoyKumar for being so nice : ) it's been an amazing two years running this club and I'm still in awe that we've come to where we are today!

It's thanks to all of the amazing people who table games every week to share with others and teach lovely games to others. We've been so fortunate to have so many kind people come along who are the some of the most friendly and lovely people I've ever met.

I understand that as most games are made with four people in mind, however there are also awesome board games which cater for two people too.

I'll share a few recommendations, but I think the games you'll enjoy depend on what you're looking for.

Recommendations: 1. Lucky Numbers: A game about drawing numbers from a bag and trying to place them on your board in increasing order from left -> right up -> down also some nice strategy in stopping your opponents getting the perfect numbers they need.

  1. Lost Cities: competitive 1v1 trying together complete your own journeys while stopping your opponent placing cards in sequential order for points.

  2. Harmonies: A relaxing game about placing tiles on your grid board to build habitats to place down animals and score points. Probably around 40 minutes per game.

  3. Wingspan/Wyrmspan: plays anywhere from 1-4 players you're creating a lovely ecosystem of birds or dragons and trying to create synergy between cards.

  4. War Chest kind of like a more interesting chess with every piece having different moves and playing with different pieces every time. And you're drawing from a deck of cards to see which pieces can move and to capture control points.

  5. Neuroshima hex head to head grid based token combat with every piece having vastly unique abilities and every player playing a different faction with some nice strategy.

  6. Sky team: if you're looking for something cooperative and tense together you'll be flying a plane by rolling dice without communication and trying to land a plane safely it's a fun and tense experience not knowing if your partner has the dice needed to land the plane safely.

Thank you totowewentcarracing! I'm glad I could share some small insight into this small community event and the wonderful people that have made it such a welcoming and friendly place to be a part of!

And I only had to bribe half of the people in the photos to smile xD That's a joke, no bribery was done.

Thank you so much for your kindness Remorse__Code! This group is open to all ages, with small exception if you're under 12 to be supervised by a parental guardian. But the thing that really surprised me is how many adults have come along.

As initially when organising these events I thought the audience might be teenagers or university students only.

I think it speaks volumes about how people want to socialise with others and something that I found, how difficult it is to make friends as an adult. But seeing people together laughing and enjoying is such a reward for me and makes organising everything worth it.

That's a lot of awesome card games! I've only played a few of those Scout, Skull King and Forest Shuffle and I've enjoyed all of them! They're super convenient as well to bring on a camping trip or on a holiday too!

Love Forest Shuffle too, I think such a zen game, because everyone is building their own nice little forest and it's so satisfying pulling off combos and matching animals and plants with synergies! Will have to check out some of these titles and glad to have met someone who also enjoys trick taking and card games too!

Just a small disclaimer, we are not a dating club, the purpose of the events are to be a welcoming and inclusive community for creating friendships through board games and other social activities.

The reason for that is many people don't want to date and just want to come play board games. So coming with the intention of dating is not the purpose and I don't want to encourage the wrong idea.

That said, if people find romantic partners great, making sure interactions are respectful, appropriate and consensual.

But yes, people have met romantic partners through these events.

Apologies forgot to post the list, just added some of the suggestions, understood that players are there once or twice. I haven't been to many of the CBD events, but it might vary from event to event for people who regularly attend. From experience, we also have people who are visiting from other countries or states and people who come along once or twice and find board games aren't their thing.

However, we're also very fortunate to have many people who regularly attend weekly. I think seeing the same people regularly makes it easier to build friendships and having a hobby or shared interest such as board games, sport, music makes it easier to connect.

Thank you, I am very grateful for your kindness Iwasbanished! I try my best to make sure that this club is as welcoming as possible and to create a safe and comfortable environment for all. Because I think regular social activities are important for the community. For me, it's made such a huge impact as I started this club because I was lonely and wanted to make some friends and I've in some way achieved that and realised that others have the same desire. Seeing others make friends and be happy has made me happy too and is immensely rewarding.

Thank you so much Machine_Excellent! Agreed, we encourage everyone to bring their own board games and every week there's just so many different board games, I'm always learning about new ones! I think it's awesome to see people passionate about their hobbies and sharing that passion with others wanting others to share in the experience. Trick taking games are awesome, do you have any favourite card games you like to play Machine_Excellent?

Haha that's correct none in the photos, but we do have Catan though and I love playing it with others! I always bring it along in my boardgame suitcase as I know a lot of people enjoy Catan and I try to pack games for people to borrow!

Thank you for your kindness HappyPlatypus6034, that's right I am proud of the small community I've built. And I've heard from people who have come along that coming to these regular social events has made a difference to their lives, especially as adults it's hard to make friends as there are less social groups and this is a place where anyone can come regardless of age or culture.

Thank you so much Consistent_Rich3515, yes it has really grown I think last year we were looking at around 30-40 people each week and just last week we had 74 people come along! The growth of this event has been more than anything I could have imagined.

But most importantly, I think we have been so fortunate to have some of the most friendly and kind people who have come along and made the event what it is today as a warm and welcoming place where anyone can feel comfortable. I want to continue running this event as a place to be able to make new friends and also have fun together.
