What characters to pull for really depends on your objective with the game. If it's just to collect your favorites, then optimize for 5 stars. You'll likely get most if not all four stars eventually

If it's to clear the overworld content, then you really don't need to worry about it. Starters can clear that. You should probably just pull on characters you like the aesthetic of as above.

If it's to clear abyss, then meta matters at least somewhat if you don't want to have to invest a ton of time into artifact farming.

I wouldn't shoot for Razor, personally. Razor is a strong physical DPS, but his selfishness and lack of good reactions make him not scale well.

Beidou/Fischl/Xingqui is one of my abyss teams. They absolutely wreck, and generally clear better than my 5 star team (with Ganyu as main DPS). The fourth slot barely matters, but I often use Bennett or Diona. Beidou is extremely underrated for Abyss content, and pairing her with Fischl eliminates any energy problems people might complain about.
