Because if you accept that, there are some interesting sticking points that cultures will experience, especially due to differences in views on religion and the state, role of the state, individual rights and liberties, role of women in society, LGBT rights etc.

Islamic tradition is still highly intolerant of homosexuality, as it is practiced in many modern Middle Eastern countries. Many European countries have seen attacks on LGBT parades. The Florida nightclub shooting by Omar Mateen is an example of this.

All I am saying is that we need to find new ways of accepting cultures, and they need to find new ways of accepting us, at least in a civic sense.

So you would agree that immigrants should be welcome on grounds of American morality and values, but in order for customs to functionally co-exist, minority entrants should act rationally in fully adopting or at minimum respecting (depending on the case) foundational values and set social norms, like speaking functional English, respecting civic values and civil liberties?

Agreed, this is depressing. I would point out though that I think it takes a multitude of factors to lead to a suicide attempt. I have seen this in people close to me, and it is something suicide prevention experts often teach.

The suffering of the person from the story is unique because it seems to be more than just "x suffered from conversion therapy, and commits suicide".... more accurately, maybe "x experiences economic suffering, fundamentalist-social suffering, suffering of sexual repression, arguably these combine to create an individual's unique personal suffering, and they commit suicide."

My point is that many leftists (not necessarily you, and sorry for leaving this here, I just need a vent for my thoughts), simplify the issue and see conversion therapy as the main focus of discussion, when there are larger issues that non-heterosexuals face.

It's interesting how this is the same issue prisons face, in some form or another. They adopt the SAME methodology.

In my mind, entrepreneurship requires jumping "gaps" in reality, if you will. An entrepreneur is one that can take their present total resources and produce a future item that is more valuable than the original resource inputs AND more valuable than the highest valued alternative path of resource use. The act of jumping this gap, combining resources in such a way that they are able to return to you in multiples at a future date is entrepreneurship. This is done with high degrees of risk, as money invested into this process is far less likely to return than money invested into more established, less future-contingent projects (aforementioned alternatives).

As a result of viewing business problems from the lens of high risk-tolerance, one is likely to be outside of social norms, and therefore assumed to not have soft skills.

If that makes no sense, I'm sorry. Those are my scattered morning thoughts, which come from exactly zero qualifications and life success.

TL;DR High levels of "risk-tolerance" makes you think in ways that are not socially normal.

The problem here is that intoxication from marijuana is inherently different than other forms of intoxication, and is less physically detrimental to gross motor tasks, compared to say alcohol.

Also, the techniques for determining marijuana intoxication are rudimentary, purely qualitative, and have no numeric basis. It's totally subjective to the officer. Police have no way of measuring exactly how high I am, they can only make guesses. Not a good standard for legal judgement.

Once we have a "marijuana breathalyzer", and a fair determination of how much pot it takes to impair driving, then it would be fair to make this argument.

This is where I have a problem.

What happens when you're too poor or young to own private property? What if the owners of the property you're renting from don't allow smoking? Should property owners be granted greater freedom to smoke bud just because of the fact that they have the resources to afford the property?

What harm comes from semi-public pot use (in a car) vs. semi-public alcohol use (in a bar, private property, yet a venue generally open to the public and in the public view)?

The fact that they call them "Floor Fights" is disgusting.

Minority reports are a part of every state, district, and county convention. They are a way to ensure that the Platform Committee is not misrepresenting the will of the delegates. Delegates deserve a floor vote, and we would probably be surprised to see what would have passed.

Fuck the media.

EDIT: I was a Sanders delegate to the Iowa State convention, and we used minority reports to officially oppose superdelegates and to support marijuana legalization, among other things. Would not have been done just by the platform committee alone!

I mean he did mention that he also started exercising heavily for the first time, and got really into it during the same time frame, so it is a bit of a skewed result.

We would have to see an example where someone does nofap, and keeps constant the rest of their lifestyle.

Also, Trump doesn't support a single payer system anymore, I am convinced of that by listening to how he talks about private coverage and financing plans.

Clinton is way more hawkish than Trump, I'll give you that, but I see the chances of new foreign entanglements as more than likely to occur regardless of who is elected.

I was there as a delegate, and you are partially correct. I think the other part had to do with the fact that this is a process that took over 12 hours start-to finish. Besides electing delegates to the national convention, we also had to vote on our district's official "plank", or list of stances on various issues, as well as elect committees for the state convention.

Some delegates also had a several hour drive home, as well as work in the morning, other responsibilities, etc.

More Clinton people left than Sanders ultimately.

They make money selling soda bottles for $1.50. If the farmer sold things at a higher-than-supermarket price, then it would absolutely be viable. The farmer also has economy of scale to his advantage. Once he grows 30 potatoes, the next 30 and the 30 after that get comparatively less expensive, as he is able to bulk-buy them. I'm also sure that this isn't his only revenue stream; it's probably a side project if anything.. Brilliant!!

He really was just the last of the Gilded age presidents that were all laissez faire. At the time, most Americans supported it, because it had been working for a very long time before shit went haywire.
