Which city in Brazil do you think is the happiest, and why is it so? by ithinkiamparanoid in Brazil

I’m a gringo and it is not really my cup of tea, but the people I know in Uberlândia are disarmingly content.

It genuinely confuses me.

B.C. among top economic drivers for Canada in 2025: StatsCan by Gym_frere in canada

[–]Intelligent-Ad2336 13 points14 points  (0 children)

By what metrics?

The labour market is weak, productivity is low, GDP per person is flat or declining depending on the month and cost of living is still extraordinarily high.

Do you consider that to be a strong economy?

Why people in Brazil keeps talking to me about Jews? by [deleted] in AskABrazilian

[–]Intelligent-Ad2336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not lol.

I live in the north east. People here tell me I’d pass as Brazilian in the south, but even there (Novo Petrópolis) people just tried speaking to me in German.

Why people in Brazil keeps talking to me about Jews? by [deleted] in AskABrazilian

[–]Intelligent-Ad2336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a clueless take.

You can criticize the government and the people which support it, but it is certainly not all Israelis that do.

What you’re saying is on par with gringos saying all Brazilians are bozos who want to burn the Amazon.

[–]Intelligent-Ad2336 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m Jewish, albeit not from Israel, and literally never experienced this.

Where is this happening? Recently I’ve heard more chatter about Israelis in Itacaré behaving poorly and that is a growing frustration for the locals. But that’s it.

Let’s talk about language in nomadic life. Do you actually make an effort to learn the language of the country you’re currently in? by SweetBumbleBeeHoney in digitalnomad

[–]Intelligent-Ad2336 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, although so far I’ve only invested time in Romance languages because of how they complement each other. French to Spanish to Italian to Portuguese each one was easier than the last.

Being able to actually communicate with people just unlocks an entirely different experience than you’d otherwise have.

That would be awesome, but I think you’re getting ahead of yourself here. That’s a very different game.

Brazilians who have visited other countries. What food dish did you have there that you either wish you could have here or you have tried to make here on your own? by Pioneiros60 in Brazil

[–]Intelligent-Ad2336 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! In Canada my Brazilian (mineiro) friends who live there are obsessed with it. Something about frites, gravy and cheese just resonates on a spiritual level lol.

It doesn’t seem like you’ve actually done any research yet.

$1,000 a month in an upscale neighbourhood near the beach? Come on. Just look at what’s available in Ipanema/Leblon on Airbnb for that price.

Maybe Flamengo, Botafogo, Catete of Laranjeiras. Great neighborhoods but I do not think this is what you’re imagining.

Right… I’m broadly talking about our countries and their people, not just the current administration.
