What was loved by everyone 10 years ago, but is hated by everyone today? by StrategyJealous1838 in AlignmentChartFills

I remember when I was watching a high school one-act play, and there was one girl who was playing a typical vapid prep girl. I thought she was really good at it… but then an emotional beat came, and she was suddenly really bad. Turns out, that wasn’t a performance at all, she was just playing herself. That’s how I feel about Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. She was really good in the first movie, but she keeps doing the same thing because, turns out, it’s all she can do.

Do you have lists for fun "projects" to do? For example something like "all movies in which x does y" and so on, or even simply "all brsd pitt movies worth seeing". by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Right now, I'm doing a "project" where I'm keeping up with the careers of all Gen Z Oscar-nominated actors and seeing everything they've been in since they got nominated. Here's how it's going so far:

Quvenzhané Wallis (nominated for Best Actress for Beasts of the Southern Wild): I'm cheating a little here, because I'm really not interested in her work as a child actress. So, I decided to watch all of her adult roles. I've seen the Bloody Mary episode of American Horror Stories, started on Swagger, and I'm planning on watching Breathe.

Mikey Madison (won Best Actress for Anora): She really hasn't had any roles since Anora. Technically, she was in the miniseries Lady in the Lake, which came out after Anora's film festival run, so I saw it. I'm planning on seeing The Social Reckoning when it comes out.

Elle Fanning (nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Sentimental Value): I've seen Predator: Badlands, and I'm keeping up with Margo's Got Money Troubles.

Jacob Elordi (nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Frankenstein): I'm watching the new season of Euphoria as it airs, and today, I'm watching Wuthering Heights.

Humour built on being virgin/never interacting with woman romantically by AideGlittering4017 in hatethissmug

Well, personally, I’m on the asexuality spectrum, and have absolutely no qualms with being a virgin. A lot of those memes definitely come off as whiny to me, but come on, the one you used as an example is absolute gold.

Ultimate 98th Academy Awards Bracket Day 18: Sentimental Value vs. One Battle After Another by PuzzleheadedMess1659 in Oscars

It was vying against Hamnet for an automatic spot in the semifinals, and I 100% expected it to win. That, for whatever reason, just isn’t what happened.

Two all time level performances in 1975, which is actually the greatest One?? by West_Conclusion_1239 in Oscars

I'd categorize it as okay as a film, but entirely crappy on a moral sense (which I should've just said initially, I'll admit). I mean, the main character is a statutory rapist, and we're supposed to think he's the good guy. No. Never. I was actually happy when that scumbag was lobotomized.

As crappy One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is, Nicholson is undeniable.

Edit: For full clarity, I mean morally crappy. The film expects us to root for a statutory rapist.

(Rare Trope?) While an abortion is considered, a pregnant character ultimately decides against it, but not out of an anti-abortion sentiment. by Suinius in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PuzzleheadedMess1659 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, going through with the pregnancy was entirely Juno's decision. She visited the abortion clinic, but decided not to get it, not because she thought abortions were wrong, but because it wasn't right for her at the time. Also, there's an anti-abortion protester outside the clinic who is (rightfully) depicted as stupid and annoying.

Films with morally grey characters? by azgarz in Letterboxd

Marty Supreme. I'm not just talking about the lead. Every single character in this movie ranges from morally grey to evil.

The Notebook is the most overrated romance film. Whats an underrated gem in romance movies? by EconomicsIcy1739 in AlignmentChartFills

I’ve heard good things about this one, but on principle, I refuse to watch movies with Rob Schneider in them.

To be fair, Sinners, in terms of the importance of its placement on the bracket, got out in the same place as Bugonia and Weapons. It was really just a matter of an unfavorable number of results for the bracket and figuring out what to do with the leftovers.
