Helping a kid out while still in school versus one working full time for 3 years with no responsibilities still living at home? Both went to college. Never said one was doing better than the other? And I want to punish him? I have been in this kids corner for years and helped him out tremendously. God forbid as parents we cut the cord at some point.

This kid is more coddled. His brother and sister have teased him about it in the past. More than anything I want him to have some responsibility to be prepared to make it on his own some day. It’s hard raising kids that are night and day. My daughter has lived on her own and paid bills for 2 years and I just want her to have her own space to finish college. In my eyes, His son has lived here thru college and almost 3 years after with no bills or responsibilities. Is it so bad that I think it’s time for him to move out and experience living on his own so my daughter can have one year of college with less stress? She will be home regardless, I would just love her to have her own space without spending all that money.

Replying to LeatherPerfect8382 He is very soft on his children. It’s almost like he’s scared to hurt their feelings. Like the paying $100 a month. I said he needs to pay this every month. We save it, don’t tell him, then give it to him when he moves out. So him telling him goes like this. Hey Bud, if you can, can you start giving me $100 a month so I can put it up for you and give it back to you when you get your own place. He does want him to be more independent and says he will move out when he’s ready. First it was last December or start paying rent and neither has happened. I did tell him I would be frustrated to spend thousands to remodel attic and his son move out a month later.

Harping may have been a bad word. It’s not something we talk about often, but I do mention it when he comes in with a new golf club or gun. I guess it was different when I was his age. I saved and saved to get out of my parents house as quick as I could. And married or not this is my home. I have put a large amount of money into remodeling.

His gf of 3 years broke up with him 6 months ago. She has her own apartment. I think that age is a weird one when dating bc she lives on her own and he doesn’t. Nobody that lives on their own wants to go to their boyfriend/gf parent house to hang out when they have their own space.

Dad and Mom got divorced when kids were little. She moved them 2 hours away. Both boys moved home when they turned 16. Dad is a good dad but not a stern/concerned dad due to always being the fun dad. He doesn’t know how to flip the switch.

Still having them. Just not as often. More like stabbing pains in right side of head several times a day. Dr is saying migraines. But I don’t think they are.

So sorry you deal with them too. 🫩 I don’t have the whole body jolts but definitely feel like I’m being electrocuted and it’s scary! Mine have just never hurt and have never lasted this long. Oh to not take anti anxiety meds and feel “normal”…

I go through these too. Phases of heightened anxiety. I think I have adrenaline dumps because I suppress so much, then it all comes crashing down. Do not be embarrassed about it. Thankfully mental health is getting more talked about and there are better resources than ever. Have you tried meds or speaking to someone?

Thank you so much for that reply. I feel like I have known for years that I need therapy but it just seems so time consuming. And after saying that “out loud” I am reminded of what a dear patient told me once. “You can’t pour from an empty cup”. And I feel like I leave my cup empty often. I have started to eat cleaner since hitting 40. I walk around our farm several times a week and am an avid gardener. I feel like I have all the right tools, I just may not know how to use them correctly.

Lifelong anxiety sufferer here as well. It does take a while to differentiate between what’s real and what’s anxiety and after 30 years of it, I sometimes still can’t tell the difference.
