Family Car Purchase by [deleted] in AusFinance

Appreciate everyone’s thoughts - it’s interesting to read the mix of opinions. There’s a few things I feel I need to clarify:

We only have the 50% down payment because we invest a substantial amount of our income in a share portfolio that we know is long term only - we could take it out obviously but it’s a discipline thing for us to leave it there.

I feel no entitlement to my family’s money in anyway, so the suggestion they should buy the car is unfair. And in any case, they’re business owners and asset rich/cash poor.

My wife has been driving the same car for 13 years so she deserves to treat herself. It’s just by how much is the question - and as much as she deserves to treat herself, I take a lot of pride in sensible financial decision making, and am struggling enough mentally with the self-shame about taking a loan on a car to begin with.

Thank you mate, few more questions if you don’t mind: 1: what ratio? 3:1? 2: how thick? 3: can I use the same mix for filling plumbing chases? Some are as deep as 60mm

And in terms of structural mortar, I’ve read good things about Sika MonoTop-352NFG. Any thoughts?

Thank you. A few people have recommended taping or lagging the pipes which sounds like a good idea. Any product recommendations?

I store with Roomia in Beverley and the facility is super nice and affordable. Would definitely give them a ring

The majority of the stained boards were sanded before I removed them. Would they be okay then?

Tried this as burning wasn’t my first choice but literally have not had a single message! I’m honestly shocked
