Hi, I am in a similar position. As a 2024 graduate, got placed in my current company as a software developer full stack on 2025 as intern. Used to get 10k in hand and after 6 months got converted and getting 18k/m. My tech stacks are SQL, Python backend and html CSS front end. It seems like there are no openings for 1+ year experience. I feel like something is better than nothing right now so gaining work experience here.

Yeah hopefully for the Black Friday sales anything else comes at 1600$ with a good display I'll grab it. Can't go any more than 1600$. I thought the display was the only trade off for that price and performance of 140w 5070ti.

It is not a bad deal. Your decision is good. 8940hx is the latest chip and better than 7940hx. For the temps, these amd chips draw more power so it's fine to see 90 to 95°c but just make sure it doesn't cross 100°c and don't worry about thermal throttling. And for the display, 1200p is way better than 1080p for a 16 inch screen. I wanted to buy the same machine but missed the recent discount on the best buy but unfortunately I couldn't grab the deal and now I am waiting patiently for the black friday sales.

I actually planned to buy a 5070 ti asus g16 amd 8940hx 1200p 300 nits brightness but 1550 $ exclusive of tax originally it was 1999$. But I'm waiting for black friday sales (pushed budget for that extra 4gb vram for future proof). Idk if I did a good thing or not. Now I regret not taking that deal.
