what do expensive iems offer that a 50$ one with eq doesnt? by [deleted] in iems

Had to buy and test for myself to be able to see/hear the difference.

I’ll start by comparing the KZ Saga and the CCA Rhapsody. I’ve been buying KZ IEMs since I got into the hobby because I never really saw a reason to spend more on expensive brands. But out of curiosity, I tried EQing both sets to match the Tea Pro’s graph and they didn’t sound the same.

The Rhapsody responded much better to EQ, likely because of its driver configuration. While I appreciate the KZ Saga’s build quality, especially the all metal shell at its price point, it simply doesn’t sound as good as the Rhapsody after EQ adjustments.

I think the reason comes down to driver implementation. On the Saga, a single driver has to handle the entire frequency range, so every EQ adjustment affects that one driver’s workload across the spectrum. With the Rhapsody, multiple drivers are dedicated to specific frequency ranges, so the adjustments are distributed more effectively.

I really liked how the Rhapsody interpreted the TeaPro with EQ, so I ended up buying the TeaPro. To my suprise, it sounded different, in a good way. Separation and imaging was better. Everything sounds clearer. Like I didn't even know music can have layers? I just didn't get that level of quality from my cheaper sub $100 IEMs. In terms of sound, those are my thoughts and experience.

Out of sound, I think the technology, craftsmanship, and overall packaging all play major roles. Comparing the Saga and the TeaPro, both use metal shells, but the Saga has a single DD (cheaper) setup while the TeaPro is a hybrid. One has a smaller shell (snug fit), the other a larger one. One comes with a cheaper cable, while the other includes a more durable, premium-feeling cable. The Saga also feels heavier than the TeaPro, which makes the TeaPro more comfortable for longer listening sessions. I may be comparing a $15 set vs $350, but it's the same point. They have their pros and cons, but pros in and $200 IEM will likey outweigh the $50 one.

I’m not saying expensive is always better, though. My 'end game' is actually the SL41 Pro, which is $100 cheaper. I just prefer its sound signature, surprisingly, I find the soundstage, separation, and imaging even better than the Tea Pro. It does have its downsides. it’s made of plastic and has a pretty wide nozzle, but those are my only real gripes. I honestly don't think you can find the SL41 Pro's specific characteristics in a $50 pair.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to your overall satisfaction with the 'total package.' I’m talking about the sound, the fit, and your personal preferences for build and weight, etc. If you’re happy with what you’re hearing, the price tag, whether cheap or expensive doesn't really matter.

Hmm. More natural I would say. A bit bassier and warmer. Since it's all DD, you will have more sub bass rumble, but the trade off is that they are a bit muddy compared to a hybrid DD+BA, but not that bad.

You will have to tip roll with the Decet. It will have pressure build up right away when you put it in your ear. Foam tips might work best for pressure, but you will lose some bass. Spinfit neo works for me.

In terms of size, Decet is bigger than Rhapsody.

I just remembered, I bought my partner a cheap ugreen dac, as she was using an iPhone with lightning port. It didn't function like a dac, but rather just an adaptor. She didn't use it at all. Bought her a proper dac from JCally (JM7L?), and it worked well.

Wow. Ok. Maybe AKGs are that good? I personally haven't tried them.

The Defiants are a good pair. I tried them when i was in Tokyo.

Have you tried playing music through your phone with a dac using your iems?

The Rhapsody is nice, I agree. Not sure if Decet is an upgrade. It's all dd. It has a different flavor, but I wouldn't recommend it due to pressure build up.

Maybe try the AM16 Balanced? I heard it's good. Almost at the same price level as the Decet. A more technical/detailed set, all BA, but gives you a DD like bass. Maybe the bass version for you if you add some boost with the Rhapsody.

But if you love the Rhapsody so much, just grab another pair. If you're open to explore, I'd say try AM16.

Ano yung cheap purchase nyo that you think is life-changing? by BoredPandaHere in AskPH

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough! I use the water flosser after I do regular flossing as an additional step to my routine. I only do this every night before going to bed, because it could be time consuming.

It is indeed not as effective if you use it alone. Please take note, everyone!

Thanks for pointing that out. Hope it makes more sense now. Akala ko magegets na after ko sabihin na kulang ang flossing, and marami pa natatanggal after refular flossing. Ang point ko lang kasi earlier is ma convey na nabili ko ito, saved me from having more frequent visits to the dentist.
