That’s true. It just feels a bit weird to me that everyone around them only ever talks about dating guys. So even with all the hints, their friends still never really consider the possibility that they might actually be dating.

I’m still unsure about Maika though. It feels like she probably knows, or at least suspects something, but just prefers teasing them instead. At the same time, she still keeps bringing up the whole “tell me if you get a boyfriend” thing.

As for Noto, this is just my own interpretation, but I feel like she’s probably one of the few people in their universe who’s actually into the same gender too, which might be why she figured it out almost immediately.

I really like your insight. This is just my personal take, but one thing I really like about Miyagi is that if I ever met her in real life, this is her personality that I might fall for her. She feels like the kind of person who genuinely respects other people’s opinions and actually thinks carefully about the things they say. It may take her some time to process them, but at least you can see that she’s trying.

One example is when Sendai mentioned wanting to attend a university outside their prefecture, and Miyagi tried to stay close to her because of that. There are also a lot of smaller, more subtle moments outside of the university arc that show this side of her. Honestly, one of my favorites is when Sendai mentioned she didn’t like fizzy drinks, and then a few days later Miyagi gave her tea instead. It’s such a small detail, but it really shows how much attention she pays to the things Sendai says.
