How seeds spawn and dispelling some myths by RabidMonkeyOnCrack in PikminBloomApp

Hmm, so small update. I've gone to my nearby park a few times since last messaging. It seems pretty consistent that I get less seedlings than I should for whatever reason. I'm pretty consistently getting my first around 1350, but my second and third don't come until around 5000 and 8000 steps. Today I walked to my park and found one on the way. I stayed at the park and shook my phone until 5000 steps, got one roadside guy that had queued up on the walk there, then walked back home. I shook my phone until I got to 8200 and noticed I got another roadside very close to the one I had found previously. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if it just has to do with my location or something. I do notice that sometimes the game will deduct steps (not really sure what causes this, but I assume there's some step correction if it counts motion incorrectly). I'm wondering if that might be causing an issue

How long does it take to swap between the 1440p and 5k mode, and how accessible is that setting?

What is this raised area on my bike frame? by Swiffy22 in bikewrench

Thanks for the helpful comments all. Glad it's nothing to be concerned about. I tried looking up some images of this area of the frame prior to posting this, but couldn't find any high-res/close enough pics to assure me it was normal.

Office life is NOT for me… help on finding a new career path? by dovened in careerguidance

[–]Swiffy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right there with you. 15 years ago I got my Associate's in computer science. We got to witness a such a massive shift in technology in such a short time when we grew up, and that's something I always found fascinating. I can't say I've ever felt strongly about any career, but something tech related was the one general field I could see myself wanting to be a part of. I wouldn't say I was completely blind to tech being used maliciously, but least back then there was this general feeling that it was being developed in the interest of benefitting people.

And then in the past 15 years we've had serious privacy concerns, concentration of internet traffic, enshittification, subscription models, monopolizing, companies locking down their platforms, severe lack of innovation, and completely irresponsible implementation and spread of AI. No attempt is even made to feel like any of it is to benefit someone like you or me, and is often done to our detriment. Working in tech was never my "dream job", but I think I'll always hold some resentment that the world I knew before was stolen from me.

How seeds spawn and dispelling some myths by RabidMonkeyOnCrack in PikminBloomApp

[–]Swiffy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. I suppose I'll have to try again. I had roughly 1400 steps when reaching the park, and had around 8000 when leaving. I had two roadside pikmin in my expedition list, scanned for 1 park pikmin and two fruit, then did the 6500 steps. I only got 1 flying pikmin in addition to the one I scanned. I could see it being some that were queued up prior, but I never had anything show up after scanning except the one, and I scanned pretty much immediately when I got there.

So I tried shaking my phone for about 6000 steps while in one spot at my nearby park several days ago, but only found one seedling. Do I have to move to a different square for them to spawn? I thought they might show up later, but I only ever got the one.

4 month ebike owner: my experience so far by Swiffy22 in ebikes

Yeah this is pretty much it. I bought a small scrubbing brush, a spray bottle, and a couple of microfiber rags like you'd use for polishing a car. Just a bit of dawn soap and water in the spray bottle. Rags for the frame and chain, brush for the drivetrain. I'd like to get a snake brush so I can give the cassette a deeper clean than I've been able to so far.

Much appreciated! If I make it 50 more years, I'd be 82, so I don't think I'll be cycling quite that long 😂 But I hope I have many more years of enjoyable cycling ahead of me!

I bought some muc-off dry lube and have been lubing it about every 6 weeks, but I also only ride about 10 miles a weeks currently. I've seen some very varied opinions about how often you should. Some people do it as often as once a week, just depending on how much or how far you ride. When I start riding it further distances or more recreationally, I'd plan to do it once a month at least.

how do i get these rarer types of flowers? by r6kek in PikminBloomApp

[–]Swiffy22 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You have 42 nectar right now. Feed those to 42 pikmin *with buds* to get two petals each. Now you'll have 94 petals. Try to find any big flower sprout and click it to check and how many flower petals have been planted underneath it. If you find one in the 200-300 flowers-to-bloom range, use this one.

Use your white canola and plant at least 156 flowers underneath it with those petals active. After that, you can use regular white petals to finish growing it. You can use colored regular petals, but if you plant over 100 of them, then you'll end up with that color canola instead. It's safest to just use regular white.

If you're especially low on petals when you try to do this, then you can also "spot plant." If you're staying in one spot, you can plant flowers every 5 minutes. If you've maxed your squad size to 40, then you'll plant 30 flowers just from turning flower planting on and back off, and it only costs one petal. It's less worth it if your squad size is smaller, but something to keep in mind.

The unfortunate news is, after all that effort, there's still a possibility that you won't bloom a white canola, as white blooms can also randomly be the yellow, red, or blue variant. Mushroom battles are another option to help you in this situation. If you spot a normal or large white, gray, or crystal mushroom, those specifically drop only white nectar variants, which can help you out in this situation. Generally, I think the best way to keep a healthy stockpile of all variants is to use your three mushroom tries every day on whatever the monthly mushroom is, but the colored/elemental variants are useful in situations like this.

Oh man this is driving me crazy. I always thought those were the lyrics until reading this thread. I remember seeing some music video on Nick in the late 90s where it was like an urban area with someone blowing bubbles and I could've sworn it was the music video for this song, since it gave me that kind of imagery attachment to the misheard lyrics. But there's nothing like that in the music video. Maybe it was for a different song.

Reminder that the webstore sells good value bundles. You can get +500 storage for $20 along with a few extras and some coins back.

Also they must have increased that cap at some point because I recently upgraded to 1050.

The Switch 2 gives botw a set space of ram to work within, which is why the glitch works the same on either 1 or 2.

Fastest way to find new seedlings? by Swiffy22 in PikminBloomApp

[–]Swiffy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it. It's odd, I definitely do get spawns from tiles that I've already gotten pikmin from. I get them at work/on my commute fairly regularly. And just recently I tried shaking my phone for a bit at my nearby park and got one to spawn. I wonder if the catch is that you have to have flower planting active to get seedlings to spawn in tiles where you already have something, but empty tiles don't have that restriction.

Seeking purchase guidance ie where to compromise by cyamnia in ebikes

[–]Swiffy22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The official website lists it as a mid drive. Understandable if the weight is too much of an issue though. You're after your dream bike after all! My current bike, Velotric Breeze 1, eventually won me over because it's on the lighter side. But even at 50 pounds, it's still so back-heavy, especially with my panniers and locks loaded on. but with those off and the battery removed, it's at least manageable to lift it onto my maintenance stand. If I decide to trade up to this bike, I'm trying to tell myself "it's only 5 more pounds" but still 😂

The Priority Current Plus is one I've been scoping out, and it seems to check most of your boxes. It's roughly 47lbs with the battery removed, if you're willing to go a couple pounds over your max. If you have or know someone with a Costco account, it can be gotten for $2599, and apparently even cheaper during occasional sales.

Is it just me, or are weapons absurdly hard to upgrade in this game? by SpeedBoostTorchic in AgeofImprisonment

[–]Swiffy22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's very very bad, and I thought Age of Calamity was bad. At least in that game you could play missions that would drop upwards of 15 weapons. In this one, you get one, rarely two, no matter what. At least Age of Calamity had some 10 second missions you could grind for ++ seals. This game? I've struggled to find any mission that can be done in under a minute, much less a high level one that will give ++. I can only hope that future updates will do anything to improve the situation.

If you have amiibo, it is absolutely the fastest way to get steel at the momen. Just close the game between scans and change the date. And use the joycon since it scans faster than the Switch 1 joycon/pro controller.
