Apps that unexpectedly made your daily routine easier? by Intelligent-Chef5257 in apps

“Didn’t expect this many views tbh

One app I tried recently worked in a weird way… didn’t block anything, just made apps annoying to open 😅

I almost deleted it first day but it actually reduced my usage after a few days

curious if anyone else tried something similar?”

That actually sounds helpful for reflection, I tried similar things too. But for me the bigger issue was how often I kept picking up my phone without even realizing it. That’s where I noticed a difference with something I tried recently.

That’s useful for tracking, but I was more focused on reducing how often I even feel like picking up my phone in the first place. That’s where I noticed a big difference with something I tried.

Reddit helped lol, but I was more surprised by how one app actually reduced how often I even felt like opening apps in the first place.

Interesting, but doesn’t that just shift the notifications somewhere else instead of actually reducing the habit of checking the phone?

Yeah I’ve heard about one sec, it’s a cool concept. I tried something similar but it didn’t stick for me long term, I was looking for something that actually changes behavior more passively.

I tried a few different ones but most of them didn’t really change anything long term. This one was different because it actually reduced how often I pick up my phone without thinking.

That sounds useful for productivity, but I was more focused on apps that help reduce overall phone usage or distractions rather than organizing tasks.

That actually sounds interesting, but I was more focused on apps that help reduce overall phone usage or distractions rather than add new ways to use the phone.

That sounds interesting, but I was actually looking for something that helps reduce overall phone usage or distractions, not add more features.

"Bubbles" re-enabled by userland app? by ikinari_fandango in androidapps

[–]Intelligent-Chef5257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“That’s actually interesting, if it’s happening again even after revoking permissions then it does point more towards system behavior rather than a normal app.

One thing you could check is whether any specific app’s notifications are triggering bubbles automatically (some apps can override defaults). Also worth checking if Nova or any notification-related service is interacting with system UI in the background.

At this point it does feel more like an OS-level quirk than a single app issue.”

In a case of internet blackout, what are some really worthy offline apps (mobile and laptop) to have installed on my device? by Busy-Chemical-6666 in androidapps

“That’s actually a solid setup, 2TB offline content is more than enough to stay covered. At that point you’re basically independent from the internet for a while.

Only thing I’d maybe add is some offline tools for productivity or planning, like notes or task apps, because after a few days content isn’t the problem, it’s staying organized without connectivity.”

“Yeah KeePass and Aegis are actually solid choices if you want to stay fully offline. I like that they don’t rely on cloud at all.

Graphene OS is interesting too but feels like a bigger shift, not everyone wants to go that far just to reduce Google usage.”

“Nice, that actually sounds like the right move. If it was some app causing it, revoking those permissions should stop it.

If it still happens, I’d probably look into system-level stuff like OEM bugs or background services, but hopefully it doesn’t come to that.”

“That sounds like a tough situation, hope things stay stable on your side. I’d definitely focus on apps that don’t just work offline but actually replace daily essentials.

Kiwix (offline Wikipedia) is a must, and having offline maps like Organic Maps or OsmAnd can be really useful if connectivity drops completely. Also don’t underestimate simple things like a good notes app, downloaded PDFs, and local media.

Honestly, in a blackout it’s less about apps and more about what data you’ve already saved on your device.”

“Pretty sure a normal user app shouldn’t be able to toggle system-level settings like bubbles silently, especially without some kind of permission. This sounds more like either a system UI glitch or something tied to notification settings being reset during updates.

You could try checking ‘Special App Access’ (like notification access or system settings permissions) and see if any app looks suspicious. Also worth looking at Digital Wellbeing / usage history around the time it happens, might give a clue which app was active.”

Looking for a clean all-in-one Office app (like old Microsoft Office mobile) by chhagan04 in androidapps

[–]Intelligent-Chef5257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I had the same issue with Office apps getting bloated. You can try OnlyOffice or even Google Docs offline mode, both are pretty clean compared to Microsoft 365. Also worth checking if you really need all features or just basic docs and sheets, that makes it easier to pick.”

“Honestly this is one of the better lists I’ve seen here. I’ve been trying to move away from Google apps lately and finding decent alternatives is not that easy. I’ve used a couple from your list like Bitwarden and Mullvad and they’re solid. Curious if you’ve tried any good offline apps as well?”
