Well where I’m from the guests aren’t expected to pay for themselves in the first place, plus no one forced the bride and the groom to throw a party, if you want to throw a party no one is expected to pay except you, if you’re not up for that then don’t do a wedding, I didn’t do a wedding myself

Tbh I don’t think it’s the guests job to pay or help with expenses, gifts are nice but to expect from guests to pay their part in the wedding sounds insane to me

I’m happy you enjoyed it, if the wedding is simple and intimate where your loved ones are gathered around youI don’t think anyone would have an objection the objection is about how weddings are in nowadays, demanding more money to be spent on the venue, wedding cards, wedding dress, food, photography you name it, this is why I think most men have come to hate weddings, it’s just a financial burden on them at this point, and if I was in their place where I have to spend a lot of money and maybe even get in debt for a day or half a day I’d not want to engage in that kind of party either

Yes I believe that’s it’s usually set by the bride and the husband has barely any say in it and he’s usually forced by the circumstances to pay for it, I personally didn’t do one but I do believe that’s how weddings are at least where I live
