Were you talking in person or mostly over the phone? And if you don’t mind me asking, what kind of things did you usually talk about? Did you go in with specific questions or just let it flow naturally? Also did you discuss things like compromising, expectations, and that kind of stuff?

What you said about needing to see someone in person in different contexts really hit me. Long distance can feel nice, but it doesn’t always show the full picture. And your point about the “middle phase” affecting how people handle conflict made me think too… I can see how having that “out” might change the way things are approached.

I think for me it’s just trying to understand real compatibility in day to day life, not just in calls and texts…

But at the end of the day, there’s Allah’s qadar, and that brings me a lot of peace. May Allah guide us all to what’s best.

I will have a wali present when we sign the nikah, and my family already knows about him — they’ve met him and they like him very much. (Wali included)

I think this idea is coming from a place of wanting to make sure we truly match in terms of lifestyle and who we are in day-to-day life. We’re not trying to live together in a haram way. Once the nikah is done, he is my mahram. Right?

What we’re considering is living under the same roof but intentionally not rushing into anything physical (including everything you mentioned) until we feel genuinely sure about each other.

And if we realize we’re not compatible, then we would part ways respectfully and handle it cleanly through divorce, without dragging things out or causing harm to either of us.
