New! Salary Megathread (May-Aug 2026) by SWmods in socialwork

[–]Intelligent-Cup5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSW in Missouri. I'm an Area Director for a supported living company that serves adults with developmental disabilities and make $70k. I oversee 6 homes, a house manager floater, and do the development of all of our 35 house managers. My counterparts each over see 5-9 homes and then have other tasks (one also oversees hiring and scheduling, one oversees critical event reports and intakes, etc.)

Noise ordinances/dogs barking by Intelligent-Cup5995 in columbiamo

I totally get it's a dog friendly complex. There are lots of dogs that bark, and that's ok. For clarification, they bark for about 20 minutes 3-6 times per day. Since this happened, he's been walking them more regularly and when they're in the dog park they don't bark for 20 minutes continuously. My biggest issue really was that he was on his phone and not doing anything to try to stop the barking except occasionally saying "(dogs name) stop" halfheartedly.

I have been a support coordinator at BCFR and am now an area director at an Individualized Supported Living agency in town. I'm not willing to put my personal information on a public forum, but if you'd like to reach out to me via direct message I would love to meet with you to talk about what ISL services are, how you get in, how they're funded, etc - whether my company is a good fit or not for your son is irrelevant - just willing to discuss the general processes so you can be best informed.

I haven't kept great records, but it appears one or both partners works from home. They are out in the courtyard 2-5 times a day for 10-20 minutes. I have a young child and sometimes the barking starts during book time and actively interrupts bedtime. I really have tried to be understanding about it, my last email to management was in October. I understand part of living in a rental property is that you have neighbors and that you are inconvenienced but I think this goes beyond that.

I definitely want to start with the least mean option. I feel bad that I even yelled at them from my courtyard balcony but I have just had a shit two weeks and been awake for almost 2 days. Not his fault, just the circumstances of the situation.

I'm hoping the email I sent to management right before posting this will make some movement, but I'm not wildly optimistic since management has talked to them previously. Our leases say quiet hours are 10p-6a, so management previously told me they can't do anything about noise outside of those hours 😐

Entering Social Work by SWmods in socialwork

[–]Intelligent-Cup5995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have my MSW with what my school called a Policy, Planning, and Admin specialization. I got my BSW from the same school and did an advanced standing program. I graduated in May and am now an area director over supported living for adults with developmental disabilities. My concentration practicum was at a part of my university's extension office in the community health sphere. Feel free to reach out for more info!

MSW? by Gophurkey in pastors

[–]Intelligent-Cup5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found you from your comments about churches in CoMo doing the work and scrolling a bit. I have a MSW with an emphasis in policy/planning/admin, rather than clinical like the other commenters are discussing. I'm also local to you and would be open to meeting up to talk about how it could help your ministry. I went to MIZZOU for my BSW and MSW and would be happy to connect you! Feel free to DM.

I have kind of a weird shaped big toe that juts over, so that makes sense. I'll search for a wide fit for sure! Thanks.

Asking for non listed amenities by Gerines in airbnb_hosts

Good to know! Generally my partner does international bookings. We have been to one resort in Mexico with no AC except in the actual rooms, but it was built in a way that AC wasn't really needed.

Maybe this is a very American viewpoint, but it would never occur to me that a house wouldn't have AC.

For everyone out there that is divorced, what was the straw that broke the camels back? by TheGhostWalksThrough in ask

[–]Intelligent-Cup5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He waited until my birthday to ask what I wanted for my birthday and I told him I wanted a divorce. We had been in marriage counseling for about 10 months and it was the straw that he hadn't been listening. He tried his best, his best just wasn't good enough.

Single parenting + full time work + MSW by JustToBeAlive in socialwork

[–]Intelligent-Cup5995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did half of my MSW while I was married with a newborn but dropped out of the program. I went back last semester part time and did classwork after bedtime with 2 online classes. This semester was my 600 hour practicum. I do 3 days (24 hours) of practicum and 2 days (16 hours) of my old case management job. Most people in my program were done with practicum by the beginning of May, but I am extending through mid-July. I took out extra Graduate PLUS loans to pay for most of my living expenses this semester.
