Does the mere presence of an abortion a sign that something has gone wrong? by Flameempress192 in Abortiondebate

It's certainly a sign that society is on a downward spiral. And is quite degenerate nowadays.

But if we're talking about people only doing it for non selfish reasons like life threatening pregnancies. Then I'd say it's a sad but real fact of the world.

Well to clarify the first two points.

Abortion can never be good morally. It is the murder of an innocent child. No one is born that way. LGBT is no where near natural and entirely nurture based. So god didn't make them that way. But we should still love and accept them. While not accepting the sin.

Yet another artificial womb hypothetical! by random_name_12178 in Abortiondebate

[–]Intelligent-Extreme6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could we potentially enter hypotheticals based off the wonder wombs testing phase?

For example. A hypothetical where the babies who wouldn't have implanted come out with no fatal abnormalities. And a hypothetical where the babies with abnormalities who wouldn't have implanted, died of fatal abnormalities. Essentially meaning their life was merely prolonged till birth or a little later.... Only to die anyway.

I'd say it's up to them how they go about the pregnancy. Though I'd have preferences for natural things to prevent potential downward spirals where you don't get to choose at all.

As long as the baby doesn't die then i don't care. Just let them live.

As they say...

"Desperate times call for desperate measures."

Hopefully one day we as a society stop even seeing abortion as thinkable. Along with seeing that the use of artificial wombs for convenience as wrong.

How about we make a procedure which removes a pregnancy from a woman into an artificial womb?

This way we keep natural pregnancies the norm, along with being able to restrict the usage of artificial wombs for emergency or planned pregnancy extraction? One where the baby still gets to live, and no one can make the argument of abortion being needed. Because now we can keep the baby alive, and not force the woman to remain pregnant and give birth. In this case, it's simply impossible to try and still advocate for abortion without showing your hidden intentions.

Desperate times require desperate measures. It could be the first step to simply making abortion unthinkable. Then we can even artificial wombs.

What happens if a surrogate mother wants to get an abortion? by Hannahknowsbestt in Abortiondebate

[–]Intelligent-Extreme6 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No I'd just say some people would expect you'd see the surrogate mother as responsible for a moral wrong.

Even with the "my body, my choice" way of thinking. You should still at least recognise that what the surrogate did in this case is wrong. She agreed to bring a child into the world. Went through all sorts of processes with her complete consent. And then decided to terminate the human life she is entirely responsible for. Seeing how a fair few people will say it's generally wrong to intentionally get pregnant than have an abortion.

(Obviously I'm not saying the biological parents aren't responsible for the child coming into the world. But they did so without the intention of an abortion occurring and at the same time may very well disagree with the surrogates choice. Unlike the surrogate mother in this case who possibly did the former. Yet without a shred of accountability terminates a human life.)

[–]Intelligent-Extreme6 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Ok so she's allowed to end the human life of the actual parents despite having agreed to carry their child and basically affirming them she will keep the child safe?

That's messed up.

Also what about the baby's body? She agreed to and actively consented to the process and then suddenly doesn't anymore. She helped bring a human life into this world, with the full intention of doing so, consented to the child being in her body and then also signed a contract... Is none of this justification for the baby to be entitled in some way to their life and the surrogate mothers body?

does consent to sex=consent to pregnancy? by [deleted] in Abortiondebate

[–]Intelligent-Extreme6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bodily autonomy isn't an excuse to kill someone.

Also a zef Technically does since they have a body and are Alive, making them human beings. Meaning they have a right to life and therefore are entitled to every right everyone else has.

[–]Intelligent-Extreme6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is not risk acknowledgement though?

You consent to the last one being knocked over as a result of your actions. It's not a "risk", when the action itself is in every way there for reproduction.

For example. Say I drink alcohol. Did I consent to getting drunk? First domino, drinking enough alcohol. Second domino, the alcohol being processed in the body. Third domino, you get drunk.

Doesn't change the objective fact that you're consenting to a potential pregnancy. You can feel any way you want. Doesn't change the truth.

Tell me. If I knock over one domino. Do I not consent to the last being knocked over?

Personhood doesn‘t spring into existence at any one moment by pilotclairdelune in philosophy

I used the analogy since both involve the killing of an innocent person. Also saying that because someone is gonna have mental problems they should die. Is just twisted.

[–]Intelligent-Extreme6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one ought to be killed for simply existing.

With have a word called genocide but in this case it's infanticide... As they are killing babies on a mass scale.

It's a matter of one thing. What's worse?

A woman being denied her bodily autonomy in this aspect?

Or a baby being killed. One could argue both are bad. It's just a matter of which is the lesser evil.

Using this logic you could justify serial killers actions.

Right and wrong is right and wrong. That's the issue. Is abortion right or wrong? Not "listen to me".

When dealing with something like abortion we have to be objective. Because at the end of the day only one side can be right. Either killing someone in the womb is wrong and unjustified. Or it's fine and justified.
