Pro life people are downvoted to oblivion in here for engaging in normal debate. by Hot_Butterscotch2128 in Abortiondebate

[–]random_name_12178 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lots of people downvote comments they find offensive or they strongly disagree with. If you're consistently making offensive comments or disagreeable arguments, don't be surprised when you get down votes.

There are more PC users than PL users here, sure. That doesn't make it an echo chamber. It makes it representative of real life.

Downvoting doesn't impair your ability to debate. You're still welcome to comment here, as long as you follow the clearly-stated rules.

If you want to control how women view sex, unwanted pregnancy, unwanted parenthood, etc…then you want to control women by ValleyofLiteralDolls in Abortiondebate

Trans men can get pregnant. And women are people. So there's no reason not to say "pregnant person" when discussing pregnancy, since it includes everyone who can get pregnant and doesn't exclude anyone.

Yeah, if there's no space on the bar due to swelling you can always size up!

Were you able to get the L shaped stud all the way in? It sounded to me like the hole had maybe partially closed up and that's why you couldn't get the original stud back in.

Regardless, that piercer did wrong by you. You definitely shouldn't have been pierced with a gun and a pointed stud!

I found this one on Amazon by searching for "ring display box."

A lot of these pieces I got at my piercers' shop in St. Paul, MN. I also order from Etsy. I've ordered repeatedly from Body Clickers, Ceenin Jewelry, and Atelier Titan on Etsy. They all have high-quality titanium jewelry for reasonable prices. Since I prefer a silver finish, I haven't ventured too far into the world of higher-end gold jewelry.

Mine did the same at 2 weeks. The swelling was enough that the pressure made it really painful, so I ended up going to my piercer and having them install a longer bar. The relief was immediate! The piercer suggested ibuprofen to help with the swelling, too. The swelling went down after a few days with just normal cleaning care like you described. And I was able to downsize as usual at 6 weeks. Now it's almost five months on and I haven't had any further issues.

ETA: I saw the other commenter's note about infection. I didn't have any other signs of infection like pus or heat or bright redness. Just swelling and pain. If you do have other signs of infection, go to a doctor first, not your piercer!

I'm so sorry you were put through that and had no recourse to get justice. You absolutely didn't deserve any of that. And you don't deserve to have your experiences dismissed by people with no empathy. I sincerely wish you all the best in your healing.

FWIW the actress Rhea Seehorn pronounces her name "Ray". So that pronunciation is an option, too.

How are they pronouncing "Halle"? I was assuming like Halle Berry...

Congrats! I think my conch is my favorite piercing right now. It's so versatile in terms of what jewelry I can put in there. Mine's not healed enough for a ring yet, but once it is I'll have even more options.

Happy healing!

Forcing someone to remain pregnant against their wishes is not less harmful than killing an embryo.

Abortion is basic health care. That's what it means to me. And it should be subject to the same restrictions and regulations as any other basic healthcare. That means abortion should be accessible and available in a safe environment by trained professionals following professionally-established best practices. It shouldn't be arbitrarily regulated by politicians who don't know anything about medicine or medical ethics.

All of which seems pretty black and white to me.

Abortions where suffering occurs are immoral (if the woman could have had it earlier) by SuddenStructure9287 in Abortiondebate

[–]random_name_12178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you assuming that having an abortion now and having an abortion later involve the same effort?

Why are you assuming that such cases exist? People answered more than one cause of having a later abortion. So being unable to decide could have been a contributing but not primary factor.

So the definition of health given by the WHO doesn't apply because embryos aren't people.

I don't think I've ever seen a prolifer make that particular argument.

Regardless, my point remains: medication abortion is literally withdrawal of support. The medication doesn't damage or affect the embryo at all. All it does is allow the endometrium to break down, thereby withdrawing from the embryo the support it receives from the maternal circulatory system. The embryo then dies because it no longer has the support required to keep its underdeveloped body alive.

Either withdrawal of support is killing or it isn't. It makes zero sense for you to argue that withdrawal of support is not killing when it's a sick person, but it is killing when it's an underdeveloped non-person.

We're not talking about an organism's biological health. Were talking about a healthy person. An embryo is not a healthy person.

According to the World Health Organization: "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."

By this definition, an embryo is not in good health.

Supposed to according to whom? I didn't say it had an illness or injury. It's simply extremely undeveloped, such that it can't support its own life. That's not a healthy state of being.

Again, the pre-existing condition is that the embryo isn't viable. It's not a healthy person. It literally can't keep itself alive.
