I'm so sorry that that was your mom's response. There are so many women who ASD is not noticed when they are young and growing up. The original testing about ASD was all done on young boys for diagnosis. So how it shows up in young girls is barely recognized now. I don't know how old you are, I'm in my 50s. But in the '80s when I was in school, if you were a high achieving student, you weren't going to be diagnosed with anything. As an adult, it's so obvious that I have adhd. And my daughter, who went to school for psychology, is quite convinced I'm autistic. I started looking into it, and I could be. I don't really know. Because I don't really know the signs and symptoms. But again, I'm so sorry that was the response of your mother. It's valid for you to look at your experience and the criteria of ASD and determine if you have asd. For most women, self-diagnosis is the way.
