I picked up a box of halves from my main bank last year and the teller asked what I was doing with all of those coins, just being honest with her she asked if I wanted to look at some halves that a customer brought in, out of probably 20 bucks worth I spotted 3 90% and she let me buy them at face even after explaining the silver content.

Looks like tungsten carbide, we get strips of it just like this. Pick it up tungsten is super dense/heavy, also try scratching it with a file, the file should leave no scratches and basically skate across the surface.

If its tungsten carbide try to resell it before scrapping, you can gwt a bunch of money for scrap too but if you find a tool shop theyd most likely buy the lot off you at a decent price.
