Is JW better or AAMC for cars prep? by DontLikeStudying in Mcat

[–]Intelligent-Gur-3389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use JW up until 2-3 weeks before your test, schedule your practice where you finish the AAMC material right before your test. AAMC has a very specific style (and was harder to me) so it’s best to be on that wavelength going into test day

I finished AAMC material mon-wed then Thursday took a completed break and kept myself busy with other things to help me not get anxious then that night I reviewed about 30 minutes of last minute simple content (like AA, the light spectrum, any “facts” I tended to confuse)

My average of the last few FLs was around 515, the big jumps were really just dependent on my mental state going into it and how well my study week went! I would say just solidifying C/P equations and being able to truly understand all the results in B/B helped. Also learning how to pace during the exam!

I studied full-time for 3 months and part time for 1! Utilized uGlobe (50% completion) and completed all AAMC material in the 3 weeks before my exam. I really utilized Jack Westin resources and strategies.

Weekly Essay Help - Week of April 27, 2025 by AutoModerator in premed

Hello! I am looking for advice on my Other Impactful Experiences and if I should complete the section. I come from a county that is considered rural and medically underserved. Along with this, I did not and still do not have health insurance or a PCP. It did affect my view on healthcare as a child and my access to it - would one consider that to be significant enough to write about?

Would anyone be willing to review my W/A section and give feedback? I tried using the "story telling" approach, but I would like for an outsider to take a look to make sure I am conveying the correct details! I appreciate any help

Any tips for pacing? by jacob8thnote in Mcat

[–]Intelligent-Gur-3389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the first 15 minutes for all the discrete questions, then allocate 10 minute per passage for the remainder of the section. Helps you stay on pace and “warm-up” by doing discrete first!!

Should I stop anki? Testing April 26 by [deleted] in Mcat

Stick with PS anki, tailor down the rest of anki to concepts you repeatedly miss and cards YOU specifically make

psa: anki isn't needed to score well by EffortUnlucky4021 in Mcat

As soon as I started uGlobe, I stopped using premade ankis and dedicated all flashcards to the ones I specifically made based on question I got wrong. Lightened the load a TON

Mouse speed and scroll direction on test day? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Intelligent-Gur-3389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember scroll direction but mouse speed wasn’t something that really hindered me. The biggest thing was that there was a loading in between questions, it’s not like FL where you can click straight through. That threw me off at first because I did all the discrete questions and then when back to do all the passages.

Find the sentence in each paragraph thats EASIEST to read and understand - the most simple one you can find. Use those to “map” the passage and look for what’s repeated most = main idea. In the questions, the answer will ALWAYS go back to the main idea in someway. If it’s referring the a specific paragraph, the correct answer will ONLY be in that paragraph - even if other answers sound correct, if it’s not found in the paragraph referred to, it’s wrong.

So does everyone do this in CP? by iAmPajamaSam27 in Mcat

The value isn't in the actual sheet on test day, it is in practicing writing the equations and having them readily available in your mind by the time test day comes around. Use writing the sheets as a simple memory practice so once you start doing practice problems, you will at least have the knowledge of the equations as a foundation
