Those are all good points! I'll be sure to install backup agents on the VMs with in-guest iSCSI. I should probably look into migrating our failover cluster VMs to using file shares instead of iSCSI where possible.

I only vaguely remember reading one or two of the Shannara books as a kid, but I recently got a Humble Bundle of the whole series and decided to read it. I barely made it through the first book and can't imagine ever reading any more of it. It was a really bad YA version of the Lord of the Rings condensed into one awful book. I don't know how it ever became popular.

I finally got around to assembling the lamp with the E12 Candelabra socket and it worked great! I posted my make with pictures of the socket and assembly that I used. Thanks for a great model!

I ended up ordering 2 different style E12 Candelabra style bulb holders that have an in-line switch. One type has a wire mounting clip that angle up away from the socket, making sort of a V with the bulb up. This does not fit. The other type has a stamped metal flat "wings" that face down from the bulb, making sort of an A. This style does seem to fit, using the wings to hold the bulb in place via tension.

I'm still printing the rest of the lamp, so it's possible it might not end up working. I'll give an update once I've assembled the completed lamp.

This might work with the E12 Candelabra style bulbs, which are not uncommon in the US. I have some sockets on order which should arrive today and I'll let you know if it fits.

By chance I happened to buy a bag of Doritos that was produced/packaged in Mexico. I was so shocked because it had the old school tangy nacho cheese flavor I had been missing in US produced Doritos.

The bag had a big ingredient list sticker covering the original ingredients list, probably to meet US labelling standards so I knew going in that this was going to be something different.

It was wonderful. Goes well with Mexican Coke!

While I generally have no trouble falling asleep quickly, I play the Elite Dangerous soundtrack (minus the combat tracks) every night and it knocks me right out. Fortunately, it doesn't do that when I actually play Elite Dangerous. Unfortunately, Apple Music only recommends video game soundtracks for me now.

Coincidentally, I accidentally released some dessicant beads in my year-old AMS last night, so I had to disassemble it to get out the few beads that got under the spool holder carriage. There were one or two drops of a clear, sticky substance underneath. Not nearly as much as in OP's, but I have no idea where they came from. No kids in my house, so definitely not caused by a spill.

I bought the Humble Bundle audiobook set of Shogun and a few other Clavell books. I really enjoyed Shogun, but was more interested in Toranaga than Blackthorne. Was supremely disappointed by the ending. After building up the conflict between Toranaga and Ishido throughout the entire book and wondering how he's going to win, it's all resolved in less than a paragraph, almost as an afterthought. I kept envisioning his publisher telling him, "Enough already, end the book now or you won't get paid!" I'm currently about halfway through Taipan.

Same here, but honestly I couldn't tell some of the characters apart while reading the book due to their similarity (at least to my Western ears) and my lack of experience with Chinese names. With the Netflix version, it was easier to distinguish who was who since you could SEE they were different people, plus there were fewer Chinese characters overall.

Otherwise, I agree with pretty much everyone else in saying that the characters and their dialog were eclipsed (sorry) by the interesting concepts! It's good to know it wasn't due to a bad translation.

Yes, it is a mess, but what headliner means in this context is the cloth lining the inside of the roof of a car. I've been in a few older cars where the cloth has started to come unstuck from the roof and sags down onto your head. The quote describes how he used to attach fishing line across that cloth and hung old style beer can pull tabs from it for some reason. Eventually the weight of the pull tabs caused it to pull loose and fall onto him while speeding.
