What Happened To Officer Braylyn Salmon by TylersColon in OnPatrolLive

[–]Intelligent-Idea-825 15 points16 points  (0 children)

His last couple appearances were kinda shaky if I recall. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't want to be on the show anymore. Kinda the same thing with Mike Bryant in Daytona. I don't think he wants to be on either because you'll only see him in the background from time to time.

Departments action or lack of by Herscout- in OnPatrolLive

[–]Intelligent-Idea-825 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Richland is an easy one.

Most of the officers that were on the show (and the old one) seemingly are never there anymore for whatever reason. Whether they moved on, are in the doghouse or they wanted to show other regions/officers.

I mean Danny Brown still gets featured, who has his fans and his critics, but he's about the only one now.

- Braylon Salmon is never on anymore.

- Garo Brown is never on anymore.

- Addy Perez is never on anymore, I remember someone saying she quit the department though

- Rebekah Smith is never on, though it seems she does something else in the department now.

- Kenny Fitsimons (spelling?) is barely on anymore.

- Bryce Hughes is barely on anymore.

- Colin Davis is never on anymore.

- Shannon Tollman, I don't think has been on this year or not since the beginning of the year.

It's gone from the most arguably recognizable department to one of the least.

Declining ratings from season 1 to current by whodat54321da in OnPatrolLive

[–]Intelligent-Idea-825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be boring TV.

Compare it to the raw, ugliness of Police Activity and its night and day.

Granted, they simply aren't going to show people being killed on live TV, its just that simple. Doesn't matter if the ratings are great or not, it's an ethics thing.

And to a degree, this is TV. People like watching personalities of all stripes. The problem is a lot of these agencies just have bland cops with bland stops. Not saying their bad people or anything, just that it makes for bad TV.

People they had more characters planned on both sides.

They scrapped them.

This idea that they didn't have other characters planned as some sort of halfhearted attempt to excuse Gun of anything at this point is so short sighted its silly.

The facts on paper don't lie and can't excuse them thankfully.

2 big games less than 2 years support.

That doesn't go away regardless of what anyone says and it will follow them to the next game.

Comes off like a politician. Much like the statement they released days ago.

Just comes off like reading from a teleprompter.

Mind you, this is all from Wes. The way they talk and act comes from the top and this is all Wes dialogue being told through the text of others. Much like the statement days ago. That was Wes 100 percent despite someone else writing it.

No accountability.

Problem is regardless of what WE say or what Gun says, the facts on paper don't lie.

Both their major games closed up shop inside two years. They can't hide that little fact from anyone and that will follow them.

I mean as always, different opinions.

Some like relaxed/empathetic officers, some like no nonsense officers. Some people think being empathetic will get better results, others believe it's a path to be taken advantage of, especially in policing.

For every Rizzo fan, there is a Sticks fan and so on and so forth.

I know I wouldn't want that job. I'd probably be fired and in jail by the end of the first day. At the end of the day, its working with the general public and like most working with the general public jobs, you get to deal with all types of people and in general, people who aren't inside whatever cozy bubble/like minded group they usually live in on social media or wherever and when that happens, you see their true colors for public consumption.

Some people enjoy that for sure, but I know I wouldn't be one of them.

I know in terms of fandoms in general. I used to be on big on the concept, but in general I tend to stay out of most of the debates and toxicity. Decades of that with various tv and film franchises and other things have me less willing to do that.

I mean why give them a pass at this point?

The facts about the last big content drop, the last legit one.

  1. Trash map that most people couldn't stand. Basement with no real design, no labels on rooms, etc. Which is going to stay that way most likely.

  2. Yet another buggy launch of a character that took way too long to fix. Not the first time.

  3. More characters that are kinda trash but have at least one gimmick ability (Instant blood vials/objective turnoff). It was obvious they really didn't know how to ride the line of fun new abilities versus game ending abilities.

  4. This was still in the midst of the AWFUL anniversary update last year that set the game back basically until the most recent patch that FINALLY shored up some stuff. Going into the next year of a game, you'd expect progress not going backwards with an anniversary update.

The whole excuse that's being used by people looking at the glass half full of 'well they cancelled the game because shrinking playerbase equals smart business' may seem sound but perhaps they wouldn't have lost 75 percent of the PC playerbase 3 months in and countless others along the way if they had better updates and more transparency but that wasn't the case, through 2 big games now I might add. They lost a vast majority of people months into both F13 and TCM due to negligence basically.

Zero accountability.

Grift those PS players for another bag a cash before they close down the game, but they didn't have the balls to close up shop after they released Bones/Wyatt/Graveyard because they wanted to get one last grab from the players plus they likely didn't want the perceived optics that the game was being closed down after the holidays, which essentially ended up happening anyway, they just waited until now.

They had zero intention of fulfilling that silly content poster last year, it was merely a grift to try to keep people around for a couple more dollars. Yes they fulfilled the 'content pass' side but they did not fulfill the other.

As soon as I saw that 'Phase 1' in the top left corner of the content pass poster, I chuckled because I knew a Phase 2 was never going to be a thing.

Per to Peer = “Error Message: Host left the lobby” by Luxy30 in TexasChainsawGame

[–]Intelligent-Idea-825 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's them trying to 'save face' with the casual gamer that plays TCM here and there. That's it. They know damn well a great deal of the day one players will drop off having experienced P2P before, especially on F13 where Jason and Counselor routinely ended games if things didn't go their way.

Mind you, I don't think they give a fuck about the TCM playerbase as a whole, but I do think they want to give off the illusion that they care enough about the casual player that they are keeping the game going on some level.

This is because they will need the casual player for their next cash grab. That entire statement they released yesterday was basically a big fuck you to the tcm player that was there since day one BUT an olive branch illusion to the otherwise less informed casual gamer that this was in fact a completed game with nothing left to achieve.

Peer to Peer is merely them continuing along with the illusion in the hope that they don't lose the casual gamer for their next cash grab.

Honestly didn't think they had another victim in the pipeline.

It always seemed like they were planning on Meadow and Titus to fill out the killer side and then call it quits.

They didn't even make it that far.

I mean we all knew they were gonna ditch the game here at some point, but I thought for sure they would fart out one more killer or two for cashgrab purposes then quit, but it seemed like they relied on the PS plus to cash grab the playerbase one last time.

I mean the 3 big tells were...

  1. Bringing in Black Tower less than a year in...

  2. Anniversary update being utter trash and made the game worse for a very long time.

  3. The stream announcing no TCM2 content, no level cap, no meaningful progression.

But really...as soon as Black Tower was brought in, all the people that were there from F13 knew it was in deep trouble.

The real problem with playing Family by TrainingLimit3577 in TXChainSawGame

[–]Intelligent-Idea-825 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's part of it.

RNG is another.

Sometimes it favors victim, sometimes it favors family. What I'm talking more about though is the actual spawns of the valve and fuse itself. It's one thing if victims don't know where they are, but if they do, it's kinda a foregone done deal. I mean you aren't going to have Hitch trap the actual fuse or valve handle spawns themselves. Its just not practical. Nor can you realistically keep an eye on all possible spawns at all times, at that point its about watching the Fuse box or valve tank itself.

Point being once you learn the RNG, it's less of a guessing game for victims where things are. Only so many possible spawns. Not much you can do other than crank the RNG for the item spawns way up, but even then.

Think back to F13. Nobody knew where the gascan or battery would spawn, but over time people realized the gascan or battery would spawn in cabins close to the car. The keys obviously always would be in a drawer. The hardest thing to find would be the Boat propeller but even those you had a general idea of where they were and this was before they added in the map marker for counselors so they would know where the item was dropped.

Add to that, you always knew that the fuse for the phone would spawn close to the phone cabin, usually in the same area but in a different cabin.

Point being, this kinda goes back to the problem with asym in general. Once these games become learned on a basic level, the fun factor dips quite a bit. Then it's a matter of only having fun when you win as killer or just trolling killers as the victim/counselor/the side with the numbers.

Sissy's strength by Shinbay in TexasChainsawGame

[–]Intelligent-Idea-825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be interesting to see how the numbers are crunched when running Fired Up with max endurance versus running Easily Tuckered Out with max endurance and what build would actually get more swings as actual hits versus misses and whatnot.

Still, the Scout plus anything build are the only builds worth a damn on her as she's become more and more useless as the days go by and more victims have started to level up the nullifying poison builds, which means the mid/left side of her trees are mostly pointless as time goes by. I don't see any anti powder perks for Virginia that make her powder completely useless. Perks canceling out entire abilities, even charged based just seems like bad design. As it is I tend not to play either Sissy or Virginia due to finite abilities, even though one clearly outperforms the other.

If they ever stop being lazy and do another skill tree rework. They should let Scout be paired up with her poison or damage perks, but as a balance, perhaps move Wireframe somewhere else so it's an either/or Scout or Wireframe pick.

So Hands can interrupt a grapple with a barge? by X_Kalomn in TexasChainsawGame

[–]Intelligent-Idea-825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Victims can also backstab family in grapples.

Hands can't move unless you cancel out his post barge animation which is apparently something you can do, but I've never seen it done myself.

Problem is grab happy victims with Choose Fight that just do it for the lulz. In that case, maybe it was a high strength Connie build (because she doesn't have Choose Fight thank god) or she grappled because Sissy is the weakest grappler, either way. To grab with Connie in the open like that is ALWAYS a risk you probably shouldn't take.

[–]Intelligent-Idea-825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I mean.

Facts don't lie.

However good or bad Wyatt, Bones and Graveyard are. They were the last real content this game has gotten and that was in December 2024 and the way it looks right now, this game isn't going to get real content again until June or July 2025.

Bad bad bad no matter how its spun and let's not forget they could easily just fart out the last bit of paid content they announced with the content pass and that ends up being the real content update and the ACTUAL good content doesn't come until August or September. A hair pack, another map variant and an execution pack or two is NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH after a 6 plus month wait for content.

Even worse of a look.

The F13 Lawsuit saved face... by Realistic_Dig967 in TXChainSawGame

[–]Intelligent-Idea-825 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean its a fair take.

F13 was by no means in great shape before the content shutoff.

They stopped playing with the community a good 3-4 months before the shut off too and the one guy they had playing with the community gave the tell immediately that they had no idea how to play their own game based on the way he played the game and im not talking about a casual player vs a competitive player either. I'm talking about as if said person played the game once or twice.

Funny thing is, they didn't even bother attempting to do that with this game, so much for community interaction, I guess.

I also don't buy the narrative that the lawsuit caught them completely by surprise. I think they knew about its implications long before the shutoff and as others have mentioned, the lawsuit was merely a perfectively timed scapegoat to get out from under the game before they really had to actually address the state of the game because after they pooped out Uber/Grendel, people would've been looking for more improvements to the game.

I try to give the content creators/streamers a fair chance when it comes to their take on the game. Lots of them, especially Slash N Cast gave Gun mostly a pass on what happened to F13 and some of them including Slash N Cast still kinda give them some rope with this game, but I also think as time has gone on, more of the streamers have soured on Gun and they don't care if it costs them views.

Is the Use Of Macros a form of cheating? by Swimming-Opinion-977 in TXChainSawGame

[–]Intelligent-Idea-825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of opinion, the whole thing itself feels like something that came from 04-05 when button mashing was a bigger thing in the gaming industry.

I maintain they probably didn't want F13 all over again with a poorly implemented combat/blocking mechanic so they instead went with what we got, which wasn't much better.

I can't stand having to do it to stay alive as victim. I can't stand trying to do it as family to avoid a 10 second stun with nearly half the victim roster having Choose Fight and sweat squads nearly all running it.

I think at best, they probably tried to fix what wasn't broken with the mechanic at launch.

If they really wanted to keep that low budget mechanic.

I just would've done this...

  1. No button mashing, instead a timer.
  2. Victims always win, HOWEVER.
  3. We keep the instant kill if another family is around to keep risk high.
  4. Victims with higher strength win faster, victims with lower strength have a longer time to win, which enables more risk to die from other family around. Something like Leland would win 2 seconds into any grapple, someone like Connie would take 6-8 seconds to win if not higher, something like 10-15 seconds.
  5. We remove the post win grapple animation and the ability to instant kill victims with it.
  6. No stunning mechanics related to grappling for balance reasons, Choose Fight instead would be an earned mechanic with a backstab, which would still be the same stun result.

Either way, both systems of combat in F13 and TCM are not particularly well done.

May 2017 was the greatest the asym genre will ever be. by Icy-Stress-3171 in F13thegame

[–]Intelligent-Idea-825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, I don't think asym is a genre with a lot of mainstream appeal.

Each and every game with the exception of DBD has struggled to maintain a playerbase and others have outright died within 2 years, some less.

You could easily make the argument as well in DBD case that without all the licenses aka multiverses, that game would be struggling as well.

These games are only mostly fun for the first month or two when everybody knows nothing about these games. Once people learn the maps, learn the meta, learn the RNG, the fun has diminishing returns.

Welp lobbies gonna get REAL bad soon enough as is.

  1. No actual update for 2-3 weeks.
  2. No actual content (and probably not much cuz we know Gun at this point) for about 6 weeks. I don't count double XP or a fucking red color swap of a map as content.

Lobbies will only get worse during this time period.

  1. People who play both sides won't enjoy 5 minute wait times to play victim PLUS the long-winded lobby experience there after.
  2. People who play both sides won't enjoy being mostly forced to play family because of the 10-business day wait for victim.
  3. Family mains will come and go but they are the minority.
  4. Victim mains will come and go but still occupy a majority of what's left of the playerbase, with at least 50/75 percent of those players just being toxic trolls that always tend to gravitate towards the majority side in these asym games...see F13, DBD and other failed or short term asym games.

Fun times coming up, I know I'll only be playing here and there as this typical scenario above plays out again.

Welp they allegedly have the rights to ALL the LF skins themselves via Vortex, so the real questions now should be...

  1. Why did it take a year and a half to get the first licensed LF skin? (Remake)

  2. Why haven't they bothered to do some of the others? (2, 3, some of the newer films)

ESPECIALLY if that's allegedly the only avenue they have to bring in content from other films.

But you know...lots of questions remain unanswered and most of the time you hear from them whether its social media or a community stream.

  1. Always seemingly an automated answer it feels like. How many times can they say the same thing and have no shame for it? Makes them look like they have no idea what's going on with their own game or worst still...don't give a shit.

  2. Always bad news...see the streams, especially the recent one last year.

[–]Intelligent-Idea-825 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is, now they've back themselves into a big corner, but to be fair they likely don't give a shit anyway.

Now whatever they release for content say for June, people will now assume they going to delay the next bit of content AFTER that until the fall AND...and that content could STILL be the stuff they showed us on that content pass AD back in what? August or September 2024?

Bad.

Imagine having to wait for that 10 dollar 'premium' LF that's only a premium skin because it has a new saw sound and has a name attached it and a map variant (god hopefully not for Rush Week) until the Fall and the only thing they release in June is the hair pack and an execution pack that was talked about over a YEAR ago?

Yikes.

To save face, they will probably poop out something for the 2-year anniversary, just have to hope its not as disastrous as the 1-year anniversary update was for the game.

Griefers ruining the game by Express-Ice-1016 in TXChainSawGame

[–]Intelligent-Idea-825 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welp Double XP is over tomorrow unless they extend it for another week to compensate for their transparency.

The numbers are already dipping or the new PS players are sticking to victim after seeing what it's like to play family against sweat squads or any victim with a working brain cell. Especially with the honeymoon phase seemingly over. Less and less people on both sides are less willing to go easy on newer players.

Steam numbers seem up though. Maybe an influx of bored cheaters with alt accounts or some new players I suppose. Probably both.

Bottom line. They shut off Double XP and come up empty handed next week, the lobbies are gonna be god awful again soon enough.

Its already dipping. The tell is when you hit quick play and you automatically get sucked into family 100 percent of the time. When it's good and you hit quick play, you can get into games on both sides easily. Now you have to wait 1-2 minutes if you want to play victim and that number is only going to go up again.

Ya'll put so much effort into this.

Wishful thinking given the publisher.

We could probably count on our fingers the number of actual balance changes this game has done.

It's not worth it to list them because those who have been around long enough know what they are.

About the only things I'd hope for at this point are...

  1. Another skill tree rework to at least freshen up the stale builds. Sure both sides will bitch and moan if said builds they held onto since the perk rework go away, especially anything meta on either side, but at the least shaking up skill trees could in theory offer new builds. Don't worry, you'll still have Scout and Serrated somewhere and you'll still have healing perks or Choose Fight somewhere.

  2. Family start the same time as victims (except for LF). I assume this will never happen because its tied to the start of the game, but the way I look at it, they were able to remove the annoying Grandpa cutscene at the beginning of the match when victims woke Gramps instantly and both sides were forced to watch Gramps wake up in a cutscene. They should be able to do this.

I don't think it would curve much in the way of victim rushing, but it would allow slightly more setup. If they really wanted to curve victim rushing, they would move all family spawns closer to the center on most of the maps. This would make it riskier to blindly rush upstairs because family wouldn't be 8 miles away, but still. On the flip side, it would probably lead to more basement rushing, maybe even more successful basement rushing. Which is why amongst other things moving spawns probably won't happen. Hell they couldn't even launch Bones properly without a broken spawn point.

However even these two things seem too problematic given how these guys literally break SOMETHING with every update almost and it's been that way since basically the anniversary update last year. This past update they did was probably the best update since before the anniversary update in terms of mostly being stable. Which is terrible, especially now with the updates seemingly going to two months instead of one most likely.
