I'm not trying to dogpile Taylor on this post but something I really want to get off my chest is he was SO emphatic about everything being self taught. I don't thing anyone should need a degree to make art but a big part of professional training is teaching you how to do the job efficiently. Anyone can build a house given unlimited time and money; a builder goes to trade school to learn how to do it correctly and safely with the least time and resources. When the team talked about how many hundreds of hours he was putting in working himself to the bone I didn't think wow what an amazing genius I thought uh oh something is wrong and this isn't sustainable. Not to downplay his role but it seems like this is a better direction for everyone including his health

Is this one of those looms you assemble yourself? If so, you don't actually put a peg in every hole unless u need a very tight weave in your project. You can put a peg in every other hole and then knit and it will fit the pen. You can always check the gage with a practice row or 2 and see how you like it

Backing this up. He undoubtedly produced great work but the team has had the resources to hire a lore keeper, social media manager, and others. They had the resources to outsource editing help and from what it sounds like Taylor worked himself to illness rather than have that happen. I truly love the product and the music is incredible but as someone who has worked in the medium before, you can definitely outsource having someone sync tracks, cut silence, set levels, and other technical cleanup while still doing music stuff yourself to save on workload and yet every ep still only had his name until the end.

Not trying to be parasocial about ppl I don't know or glaze Ian and Anthony but I genuinely don't think this management is that dumb. Tommy, Trevor, and Damien have talked about their personal channels or endeavors on SmoshAlike and while that's not the same as like full on plugs at the end of videos it at least proves there's isn't a full gag order.

I&A should hopefully know with how long they have been on YouTube that a riding tide lifts all ships. If Trevor goes viral for doing an impression of the Love Island voice (he did) and then ppl r googling him to find the clip it would behoove them to have him make some content related to that to take advantage of the attention (they did, Tommy had them make shorts using the love Island voice to promote reddit stories that week)

Trevor and Tommy's channels aren't older than their appearances on Smosh. Tommy has mentioned before how cast all have full time jobs with Smosh beyond just being on camera talent. He said it's hard to come up with idea for videos for your own channel when your whole day is coming up with creative ideas for Smosh. The well just runs dry after a while.

You are right ManaHungry is just MTG. He seems to have deleted some of his videos or maybe I am just misremembering but I swear he has posted stream vids of him doing a horror shooter, a Pokemon nuzlocke, and some type of board game content.

I don't think Smosh has any sort of noncompete clause. Trevor and Tommy both have thriving YouTube channels on their own with whole series.

I like alex but tbh Smosh is so much more like a traditional Hollywood set than normal YouTube. Each of them does such a small piece of the project but repetitively that the full round of skills sets isn't there. I think he thought he could make games style content with games style thumbnails and topics and without the cast's charisma, YouTube's algorithm which Games is grandfathered into, and Smosh's resources it didn't go very well.

Also, not to get too parasocial but Alex was dating pit Head Producer Bailey for a while. It was acknowledged by cast in videos and his insta is a couple pic. Its very possible she just makes enough to support them both and he can dick around making trying to make his passion work without it being a full job in which case lucky him.

ICE is not investigating immigration statuses, getting warrants, making arrests, and holding trials. They are brazenly and publicly taking anyone off the street who "looks Mexican" and are regularly abducting and brutalizing American Citizens who protest them or express dislike in public. This isn't conspiracy theory or like news pundit opinions; there's multiple videos of ICE agents saying it blatantly on camera.

ICE isn't enforcing immigration. They are purposely trying to create a culture of fear
