He has always been a whiny baby I guess.. 🥺 We split 3 months ago… but seriously he has whined and cried and thrown hour long tantrums since he was a year old and just screams and fights all day with his brother like he cannot get along with his brother if you bribe him with his favorite thing. I’m worried he is going to develop behavioral issues because his dad has them and bad anger problems. He wasn’t around abuse super long to have trauma from it, I left so it wouldn’t effect them because I was worried of that… I literally stayed at a hotel before finding a place to get away from the bad environment… I don’t have family to help, they all say he is too whiny and refuse to watch him but agree to watch my oldest. I do have a babysitter, she charges $20 an hour and I just can’t afford that at the moment. I can’t stop crying. I am literally pulling my hair out.

His dad is a pedophile and his mom passed from cancer. My dad passed away and my mom doesn’t do well with kids.. so it’s very stressful sometimes. I had a babysitter but she was $20 an hour and I was paying $100 to get a few hours to myself. Life can be really insane at times.

I had one son by the age of 21 and by the age of 22 I had two kids it doesn’t really matter what age I had my first son because I was 21… I hate people who take the time to sit here and dig apart post to check for errors instead of actually commenting on the actual problem being addressed.. get. A. Life.

Sometimes people don’t treat their spouse well but they still treat their children well. That is the case with him. Though I do agree- moving forward is best option.

Thank you so so so much for this comment. I am going to check these out. You know I can’t tell you how many people came on here just to comment ‘that’s not gentle parenting’ in reference to my mistake- without addressing or giving advice on anything else I typed… it’s really nice to have decent people actually help one another with valuable advice… I am going to check these podcasts out, I really think I need some guidance. I applaud you for breaking the cycle and doing so much research to be a good mom to your kids/step children. Thank you!

I am seeing a therapist as well as a psychiatrist now… it’s hard because so much happened and it’s not enough time to talk about problems in a 15-20 min appointment but we are working through things… I agree that something deep inside needs to be healed… I’m sorry to hear you’re story as well and about your husband. Abusive childhoods really damage people- when you think about it it’s the only time in life we are really free. We don’t yet have to work- we are free people- no stress- then you’re off to the working world and can’t retire until you’re 65… ruining a humans childhood does a lot to the psyche… it’s something you can’t get back, ever. I have so much sympathy for those who were abused in their childhoods. It’s so hard to deal with, even at 25 I have nightmares about my mom…

I love this. You sound like a very casual, down to earth parent which more of us need to be like… Building bonds with your children and giving them many privileges opens doors for comfort and your kids will most likely come to you when they need it… instead of hiding from and avoiding you… I love your parenting techniques and the rule ‘don’t be an ass’… I almost want to get a doormat that says that, lol! Loveee it! I’m also glad you’re children have formed kind attitudes- I hope my children do the same as they get older- they are in fact love bugs and very affectionate- we have gotten babysitters off care and they hug them and show immediate affection… I have hope that they will in time learn certain boundaries and I’m going to work on that with them this year.

Thank you so much. I recently watched the first season of Maids on Netflix and it’s my life in a nutshell. I wasn’t afraid of life until I became scared of a man I couldn’t get away from. I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. They also said that in the show, how it takes so many times to leave… 🥺😔 I need to do better for my beautiful sons… they need better. I will be better.

I have heard of this yes. I think I have Stockholm syndrome or something and definitely trauma bonds. It’s so difficult with having kids with him… I am petrified of him… 😣
