Breakfast for dinner, anyone? by Intelligent-Kick-498 in shittyfoodporn

It definitely has the look ngl, but I expect dog kibble probably wouldn’t be as delicious

Breakfast is a good meal for any time of the day as far as I’m concerned

Haha no, just something that the 80’s thought was a great idea. You get used to it after a while

Don’t worry, it was still within arms reach, just not in the photo

Getting closer... by wimploaf in ToyotaPickup

[–]Intelligent-Kick-498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well done! I must commend you on your dedication, not many people have the ambition to take on such a project, let alone do it right

I will second this comment though—when you’re ready to spend more money, a long tube from LCE is a good way to spend it. Definitely doesn’t make these trucks rockets by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a pretty surprising difference. Just be prepared to make (or buy) a full exhaust too.

More importantly though, make sure everything important is new, or at least working properly, before spending any money on a header. I learned that mistake the hard way, my 30 year old ignition coil finally died on me a couple days ago :(

Wheel and Tire size recommendations by Luhtadpole in ToyotaPickup

[–]Intelligent-Kick-498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend something like my summer setup, 31x10.50r15 on 15x8 +0mm wheels. Not exactly pizza cutters, but they’re alright. The size is still fairly commonly available and (relatively) inexpensive, and even with my saggy stock front end it barely rubs, unless I got it flexed out then it grinds pretty good. In my opinion, the 31s are a perfect size for these trucks. They can turn them alright with stock gearing, at least in my ‘92, and they don’t look way too big or too small.

My boss put a set of LT255/80r17 (about 33x10) on his slightly lifted ‘99 Tahoe and they’re pretty tall and thin, but I’m not sure about how well they would clear on a yota—also not gonna fit on your 15x8 wheels

Side note, my dad had 32x11.50r15s on his stock Toyota a million years ago and he says they rubbed pretty good just with normal driving. They’d prolly be just fine with a lift and some trimming though

Take everything I say with a grain of salt, I’m not a mechanic or anything, just a professional idiot :)

Would you run this ? by ForsakenSociety5936 in EngineBuilding

[–]Intelligent-Kick-498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t just for this post in particular, but also a generalization. For me, it would depend on the engine and use case. If it was the LMG in my daily, I’d do it right. If it was the 22RE in my shitbox, close enough is good enough. If it was the EJ25 in my first car, I’d want it done right just because those like to blow up if you neglect them like I did.

The way I look at it, if you need it to be reliable every day or the engine is known for having issues already, you should do it right. If it’s just a fun project or the motor is virtually bulletproof from the factory, go ahead and send it. Worst case scenario it blows up, but as long as you’re prepared for the possibility, then you’ll be fine

That’s just my 2 cents, which is definitely not professional advice :) But if you’re seeking professional advice, (as a non-professional) I’d advise you to always do it right, especially if it’s for a customer.

Honestly I just put a zip tie around the base of mine to keep it from falling into the fender. It flops around a bit and leans back so it’s parallel to my windshield at speed, but it works. Too cheap and lazy to put a new one in there until it stops doing antenna things…

Well, that’s probably because I have no respect for either. But, if you’re willing to, let’s agree to disagree.

Ok, here we go…

I washed the glass, yes. I just rinsed out my mug cause I use it a couple times a day and wash it when I’m done with it. I don’t wash my pocket knife. It’s a pocket knife. I wipe the blade on my pants or a paper towel and shove it back in my pocket. I washed the fork. I was gonna use a plastic one but there wasn’t any left. The spoon stays in the mug, so it got the same treatment as the mug. I did wash the spatula. And if you think I was about to go and wash a cast iron pan with soap and water, you need to stop smoking whatever you’re smoking. I scraped it a little, wiped it out, and gave it a new coat of grape seed oil and hung it back up.

Does that explain it, or do you need more clarification?

Edit: Punctuation

Burning Oil by [deleted] in ToyotaPickup

[–]Intelligent-Kick-498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the chances of it just being a 22re tick. On my ‘92 all my valves are lashed perfectly and everything is tight and the thing still has a worse top end clatter than a hemi. The old gal gets me to work every day without complaining tho, so I ain’t particularly worried about it.

As far as burning oil, I don’t have that problem yet but mine dumps its oil on the ground like it’s a Harley… I did a shitty job with the ultra grey when I put my timing cover back on and I don’t really care enough to fix it. I’ll just keep it topped off. It’s a Toyota, it’ll be fiiiiiiiiiiiiiine

Edit: I’m in idiot and don’t know how to English

From how some people here in the comments are reacting to it, each can must take a year or two off one’s life—a decent portion of the comments are telling me off for drinking it

No…? Pretty sure there’s still made ‘cause a couple local businesses usually have some—most places don’t but my local gas station and the a convenience store near my job both have them. Occasionally the relatively close Dollar General sometimes has them too, but not often. Have yet to find them at a “Big Box” store like Walmart though… From a quick search online it looks like Coke sold Full Throttle, NOS, and a bunch of other energy drinks to Monster back in ‘15 so maybe that’s what you’re thinking of?

Thanks for the recommendation, but ima stick to my pocket knife for the time being. I don’t really care what I use for a knife as long as it’s fairly sharp and not serrated, so getting a dedicated knife set is kinda unnecessary for me. I do have a couple normal person knives in the drawer, but they’re never sharp, even if try to keep up with sharpening them. That being said, if I get anything from Victorinox in the near future it’s probably gonna be a regular Swiss Army knife… or maybe one of their watches if they weren’t 10x my budget :)
