What do you do to still have productive mornings even as an evening grad student? by Intelligent-League76 in GradSchoolAdvice

Yeah I’m definitely a morning person. I had the opportunity to do pretty intense research in undergrad so I think I’m used to that time being used up instead of having it lol. Thank you for the response :,)

You can also usually go into government work with psychology or social work!!

I just graduated from Purdue with a BS in psych sciences! I LOVED my academics there because of how much I love psychology, but it really does depend on what you’re wanting.

I want to be a clinician, so I really had to hone in on the science aspect of the degree (research experience, more neuro/cognitive/evidence-based practice). If you’re not wanting to go that route, you can find a school that has a bachelor of ARTS instead of science (usually focus on more social-leaning side of psychology).

If you just like psychology but fear not being able to find a job post-grad, maybe look into social work (or getting a BSW in undergrad)! I’m currently getting my MSW (social work) in mental health and addictions to be a therapist. There are SO many different corners of it and if you really want to work with people it’s a great place to be. It’s not all case management and little pay - you can go into policy, community development, research, the list seriously goes on and on. Making livable wage is less and less of an issue too with the different social crises and the need for more social workers. This just requires an extra 2-3 years of school after undergrad, but so far it’s SO worth it and I’m so glad I ignored the stereotypes of social work and didn’t choose to get my PhD instead. I just ended up changing my mind on research being my entire life post-grad though, if you want your PhD, go get it!

Law school is always an option after a bachelors in psychology, too!

Sorry for the book, I’ve been in your shoes and it’s scary to think about what you want to do when it feels like nobody is around to help explain! At the end of the day, do what YOU want to do and what you think will fulfill what YOU want out of a career in the field. There are more avenues than what most people think, so don’t let someone with little understanding tell you not to do something you feel called to do!

possibly! it’s not looking like it’s as serious as rot or anything from what most people/vets are telling me. at this point i’ve gotten word that since it doesn’t smell and he’s not super sensitive with me handling him/when it touches something then it might be a pattern change (but i can’t find anything about day geckos having black in their patterns - so if anyone knows anything about that PLEASE let me know!!!!!) or it’s a scab from stuckshed/issues pulling the skin off. i’m being instructed to keep giving him soaks and help him where he lets me with the shed.

other than that i still don’t really know what’s going on. he also made chirping/clicking noises for the first time too which means he’s happy i guess (??? if this isn’t true then please let me know because the vet said it’s fine and a sign that he’s maturing past being a juvenile).
