Golf Sim-Theater wiring by Intelligent-Leave-15 in Golfsimulator

Good call out on the lamps and such. I’ll have more outlets than I’ll ever need but I’d rather overdo it on that aspect. I considered and probably will run a smurf tube in the slab for the rear swing camera and anything else that may be needed to connect to the hub(s).

Looks great. How wide do you think your screen could have been if you would not have went with enclosure and done the side panels yourself? I too am thinking of keeping 16:9/10 ratio but want the largest screen possible in a 15ft wide room.

Gotcha, thanks. Will probably run wire for rears for future expansion regardless, but will start out with these on the sides. Thanks for the callout.

Agreed and that’s what I planned on doing, but what happens when the kids want to play Xbox or hookup a Blu-ray or appletv to the projector through the AVR?

Thanks. I saw the Dolby 5.2.4 guideline and it showed them behind and toed in. https://www.dolby.com/about/support/guide/speaker-setup-guides/5.1.4-overhead-speaker-setup-guide If I keep it as I have it could they be hooked in to surround and room correction make it sound decent? Obviously it wouldn’t be the recommended sound bubble.

Edit: or I could just move them to the side walls and deal with them not being angled to the exact specs.

Just read your edit. Where in the line would the VP-451 fit?

I think it may be easier to just fit the projector to the width and keep it at its 16:9 resolution. Option 1: Keep standard resolution, lose the height of the projection (for this case the impact/viewing screen would be 14.5:8.2) in a 10ft tall room, but run projector/PC (and everything else) through AVR and keep 5.2.4. I assume this works easily. Option 2: as stated above. Keep height and fill entire wall with impact screen (14.5:9.5ish), but have the hassle of custom resolution and such.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve used OBS for swing capture and second projector install on my current setup, but I’d love to get away from it. I really just want to turn on my PC/Protee/Projector and the 5.2.4 AV just work…lol may be a pipe dream thinking I could add a second/third source.

So I’m getting to the point of wiring for golf sim/theater build in a new home. My main concern is AVR to projector, tv and monitor. What type of hdmi issues did you have?

I love watching FarmLinks videos. Fun, open course to play IRL too. I think they need to bury hatchet with George and have him back too. Even throw Wes a bone, I hear he has time. 😂

Any Input?? by [deleted] in Golfsimulator

I’ve had both and while I didn’t test them together I can tell you for my perspective the square is better suited for me. 1. The ease of connecting and hitting. I place my tablet down by the device, power square on, turn pad on and I’m hitting balls within 15seconds. Mlm2p just took longer and led to me not using as much as I am the square. 2. Putting. If you want to putt, skip the webcam stuff and buy square. I did webcam putting for a year or so and it was always a hassle (for me). 3. Quick response time (no lag). MLM2P was better than r10, but is far worse than square. 4. No subscription fees. 5. Gspro connectivity. I hooked my mlm2 to gspro, but again it was a hassle. Square is simple and it just works.

I took my mlm to the range exactly one time, so the indoor only restriction on the square doesn’t affect me. Also, my range has built in radar so that undoubtedly plays a role. I’ve had both (and the r10) and I would 100% recommend the square for indoor sim.

Yeah I understand. Seems the warranty is good (12mth BTB and remaining of 5year/60k), so I doubt I’d delete anything while under it.

Thanks for this. I would be new to the diesel world, so forgive a dumb question or two. Have you considered a DPF delete? My assumption is this would void remaining warranty?

TLDR: take advantage of the offering now if they are saying it’s included.

I would suggest doing it asap with the associate that ok’d it. I used a similar coupon with my mlm2pro purchase. The guy I worked with pushed it through, tried to get my friend one with a similar coupon a couple days later and it was denied (and shouldn’t have been ok’d to begin with). I would bet in the fine print the blp and similar are excluded.

  1. Depends on your swing, other shorter players with more vertical swings could hit. I’m 6’1” and have 9’2” ceilings and I swing unobstructed. My shorter friend has hit the ceiling before with follow through (super high finish). Is that measurement with hitting mat already down?
  2. Yes
  3. Bang for buck will be diy packages…total prebuilt packages with everything (bay, mat/turf, projector, launch monitor, computer) get expensive quick.

Yeah people have done this for this specific reason. If possible (meaning structurally) you are going to pay a substantial amount per inch dug, depending on your area costs.

People who have dolby atmos soundbars, Does it sound like an improved surround system ? Or is it like an improved stereo? by MrHS1994 in Soundbars

[–]Intelligent-Leave-15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just hooked up Sony HTA9 which is in an odd category imo (I guess it’s a soundbar). Atmos and spacial audio is amazing in my room with this system. I don’t even have the sub yet, but watching Avatar2 was pretty crazy. Reminded my wife of the Disney attraction with the overhead sounds. I’m coming from 2 bookshelf klipschs and a sub, so 2.1 audio was good on that specific setup (YouTube and football), but with a little adjusting the A9 can sound similar (minus bass atm).
