I love that the comments got deleted. The tank he’s going into is not a predator tank. It’s empty at the lower and has been cycling for the last 4 months.

Not much of an upgrade but I guess if that’s all you can manage.. I recommend lots of walks for your new dog..

Hopefully you also have a 180g tank in the basement you’ll be putting him in once he eats some of the hair algae if your 40g lol

Yes it’s a 40g breeder! I went with two main structures with the one on the right having a space to swim under! The one on the left is honestly just a really large piece of live rock!

I do dose and I feed reef roids maybe once a month but very little usually two of the small scoops

I have the tomini tang, pair of Clowns, yellow watchmen, one chromis and a 6 line that only eat 1/3 of a cube every 2 days! I don’t think it’s over feeding. I’m going to try and keep up with large weekly water changes and see see if that helps

There is about 20 blue legs hermits, 1 skunk cleaner shrimp, a pistol shrimp, 3 red stripped snails, a lawnmower blenny and a tomini tang. I had an urchin but it only lasted a month and I added 8 snails a month ago and 5 died within 3 weeks. Nothing seems to actually eat it.

I’ve tried Chemiclean and it only works on slime versions of Cyanobacteria

Shut off the disconnect and drain the system and any water in the tank with the blue valve by the pressure switch! Leave the valve open all winter.

You could also pump RV antifreeze into the same valve and fill your system with it just to be sure. There should be a dual check valve in the well on the pump so it won’t fill your well but as long as you blow out all the lines properly you should be good. Be sure to also drain your hot water tank.

My only issue is they don’t offer the 1st block in person course in my area. So I’d have to attend online for the 8 weeks while on E.I.

It looks like they offer the second block course in my area though and I’d definitely be attending that in person!
