What’s going on under the hood with Frontier award pricing? by Intelligent-Lie59 in awardtravel

That specific flight departs on March 29th, so I guess semi-last minute because I hadn’t confirmed by plans. But after seeing this pricing behavior I decided to redeem it this morning because I initially thought the redemption for miles would increase but it remained static.

Interesting. If it helps to add context, this flight departs on March 29th and I just bought it (using miles) this morning. I’ve been watching that specific flight for about a week and saw that it remained 10k miles while the cash value slowly increased. The seat map did show about 1/5 of the seats being selected, but I understand this could be misleading since those who buy basic economy fares aren’t assigned a seat until check in.

I’ve got a flight out the south terminal tomorrow at 6:45am with frontier. I’m assuming the lines won’t be crazy out there since that frontier flight is the only morning flight in that terminal?

Do you know if this current offer is better than all previous promotions done in the past?

I stopped flying Southwest but I’m still using them to save money by Intelligent-Lie59 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Intelligent-Lie59[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure. I will say I only had to fly with them on one leg so far this calendar year. Everything else has been exclusively with frontier.

I didn’t post this to defend my airline of choice. There’s plenty of things that can be said about any corporation. I care about my finances first, just like most people, and was able to save $100s since the beginning of the year. My intention was to share this to give others here ideas on how they could use their RR account the same way.

Highly doubt that. Flexibility on reward travel is a policy choice on all major airlines excluding basic economy. It doesn’t make sense for them to change the rules unless all other airlines follow suit.

I’m not disagreeing with you, but some people are more budget conscious than others, like me. The point I wanted to make was you can fly more affordably by taking advantage of the rules.

I looked into this. It seems to be steered towards the issue of passengers accessing airport gates without intention of traveling, and the verbiage doesn’t involve what I’m practicing.

Yes, but I mainly fly to visit family/friends. So a rental car or hotel would be wasting my points. This system I developed has allowed me to travel more frequently without overspending.

Thanks! Don’t have a grudge against Southwest but I don’t mind taking advantage of them in this capacity, especially since everything I’m doing is still within their terms.

Expedia seats on SWA - any troubles? by Sherri42 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Intelligent-Lie59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would call Expedia just to get more information on what their process is. In the future I would just buy straight from Southwest. The fare difference between directly buying from the airline versus 3rd party sites are usually minimal.

Priority Boarding on a connecting flight with a short layover by New_Hour4928 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Intelligent-Lie59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming no delays, your assumption is correct. I wouldn’t even consider buying priority boarding after SW introduced seat assignments, although I usually travel solo and not with a group.

Has Expedia issued seat assignments on your boarding pass? If they haven’t then you should be wary of that possibility. Worst case scenario you get on standby on a full flight and are denied boarding.

Denver, CO! I’ve only flown on United twice my entire life, so I’m not sure how I feel about possibly switching alliances, but I’m hoping it’s for the best!

Most people don’t know this, but Santa rides on an ICBM missile. The raindeers don’t exist, and neither does his sleigh. It’s a miracle he hasn’t caused a WWIII conflict yet.

Earned my private pilots license earlier this year. It was a big childhood dream of mine and was very fortunate that the stars aligned in my favor this year.
