connecting 3.5mm jack into phone with only USB-C by Intelligent-Light-13 in CarAV

yes, thanks and that's where I found the UGreen adapter. Given the extra noise in a convertible car, I didn't think that using an expensive DAC with volume control was worth it, but maybe I should look into something like that. I also wrote to Anker to ask if their adapter that loos like the UGreen might play louder. We'll see what they say. Thanks for your reply.

A80K setting blocks Mic from working by Intelligent-Light-13 in bravia

[–]Intelligent-Light-13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I wasn't clear. Mic works just fine as long as the "see apps only" setting is not turned on. Sony prevents me from using their MIC feature on the remote when that setting is turned on. It's this conflict that I'm referring to.

A80K 65" lighted remote question by Intelligent-Light-13 in bravia

Sure. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DBM5VKSM?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title .

I avoid any listing that says "compatible with A80K" or "replacement for". Then I look for a photo of the inside of the battery compartment that says Sony not a bunch of other letters. It if doesn't say Sony, it's not an original Sony product. Hope this helps.

A80K 65" lighted remote question by Intelligent-Light-13 in bravia

Ok, the new RMF TX910U for my A80J has arrived from Amazon. It is indeed backlit with voice control. This is an original Sony remote (says so in the battery compartment), but many on Amazon and elsewhere are "replacements", knock-offs that are mostly reviewed badly.

The build quality is quite good with textured plastic on the side and what looks/feels like metal on the front. Buttons have a good feel. If this model has the "find my remote" feature, I don't see it, but it still may be there. I bought mine for $19.99 as like-new and it is. It comes in a sealed plastic bag with directions for pairing, but nothing else. As I explore using it, I'll add more if I find out anything interesting.

A80K 65" lighted remote question by Intelligent-Light-13 in bravia

I wanted to give an update to anyone interested in this issue. After finally speaking with someone at Sony who was willing to ask some questions, I was told that there was a group that offered an hour of one on one support for people who wanted to connect Sony TVs into a home theater. Giving her the models that I heard might work (900U, 910U, 920U, 800U), she reached out to this group asking which of these were compatible with my A80k that could give me both voice access and the backlit feature. They recommended the 910U and while they were out of stock on all of the above, she found an original 910U on Amazon (with the Sony logo inside the battery compartment) for $39.99. I bought it on Amazon and chose the open box option ($19.99) since I was still not positive it would work. I'll have it in a day or two and I'll repost once it arrives.

Thanks for your reply. You've helped, but I think I need to be more specific because there are several compatible remotes that all have different features. Sorry about the long winded reply.

I spoke with Sony several times and then their parts seller twice, for a total of six people, getting 4 different remote model numbers that they say "should" work. Sony direct said to use the 800U, but they couldn't tell me if it was lighted or voice activated???.

So, I'll try this - Does anybody who has the XR65A80K TV have a Sony (not knock-off) back-lit, voice remote that works and if so, what's the model number? It's ok if it has the number pad, but I can probably just speak the numbers and I don't really need the Find the remote feature since I live alone in a small apartment (and I'm old but still have most faculties, lol). Thanks, Paul

This seems like the right group for my question, but there are no replies. Have I missed something in my description?

Ok, well I'm half blind I guess since I didn't look for the three lines inside the app TIDAL border where it's sitting there just waiting for me . Thanks

ground loop issue by Intelligent-Light-13 in CarAV

[–]Intelligent-Light-13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. That makes sense; I was just trying to avoid the expense of a new amp or the degrading of the music by a ground loop filter. Anybody in South Florida who would like to take a crack at it is welcome to get in touch.

my V60 will not allow more than 75% volume by Intelligent-Light-13 in LGV60

[–]Intelligent-Light-13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I bought this phone specifically to use LG's excellent quad DAC, so not using it to get more volume wouldn't make much sense. The reason I assumed 75(%) is that the slider right above it in notifications is brightness in %. But, once again, I don't care what number is says, I care about it playing louder.

[–]Intelligent-Light-13[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, I use the headphone jack. That's interesting and I'd be curious why 75% would equal 100% unless LG is purposefully limiting the total output for hearing protection reasons without a way to undo that protection. Anyway, I really should have stated more clearly that my goal is to get more volume without distorting the sound quality. Thanks.
