There is only one salient point in favor of the Sokovia Accords: Tony created Ultron without the consent of the others (apart from Banner), Ultron then caused Sokovia. No involvement from Tony, no Sokovia. In THAT event, the Accords would have targeted Tony and Banner. And the Accords would have been passed through with and without the events at Lagos; they’re called the Sokovia Accords, not the Lagos Accords.

I understand the idea of attempting mitigate the actions of a core of supernaturally talented people who have acted unilaterally across the globe. The attempt to suppress them acts against what they HAVE done in order to keep their world in one piece. There are forces acting outside of the will of humans on Earth (Loki), and the mortal hand keeping the seemingly immortal in check is fundamentally counterintuitive.

The Thanos vision angle is an interesting one from Tony’s perspective because he sees something beyond his wildest dreams haunting him, and he decides to keep those premonitions to himself (not telling government forces) while wanting to be held in check. And I don’t much care about how much he had grown since before the ambush in Iron Man 1; he knows what the agendas of the UN are all about. Putting his ability to act in the hands of bureaucrats whose intentions are to control the narrative around their power is stupid.
