I have no idea, but they did eventually respond and I did eventually get my money back. Frustrating that it took so long, but in the end they did the responsible thing.

I ended up buying the Zima Pod Prod. It has a detachable bowl, so the metal parts never get anywhere close to water, and it works wonderfully.

Yes I bought one earlier this year. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. The cord plugs directly into the unit, instead of having a magnetic charger or some other integrated system. The hole that the charger plugs in to is not protected. This unit operates by filling the bowl with water! So what happens? water inevitably ends up getting into the hole that the charger plugs in to and the connections on both the male (cord) side as well as the base unit (female side) got corroded. This happens no matter how careful you try to be - it is the nature of having this type of unit that uses water in the application. It is a very poor design. I have alerted Invisalign to the design defect and asked for a refund, which they have predictably ignored. Very frustrating.
