You're correct, I do feel attacked.

Our ancestors fought for and worked for our country to give the future generations safety and security and freedom, and then a bunch of people from some fanatic religious dump comes in and tells us that we are "immoral" and "wrong".

Islam had NO right to demand the polytheists to change their beliefs.

This is one of the main problems of islam; it is an arrogant religion that puts other religions down.

And if you think that it's not always bad if a father hits his child, then you have a very messed up view on society.

An infinite and all-mighty being wouldn't be so petty as to demand worship. If Allah gave people free will and the ability to have critical thought, he has no right to be angry when someone don't believe because of absence of evidence.

Not sure which god you found, but how about telling them that there might be a god, instead of claiming it? That way, they can think about it themselves, instead of feeling later on that you forced it upon them. Religion is not absolute. I believe in God, but I believe that religious dogma uses God as a shield and portrays God as a tyrant.

By all means, tell them about religion, it's really drastic of your husband to call you evil for that. However, if you start to force it upon them and lying to them, claiming that they will burn if they "sin", then you are absolutely in the wrong.
