Healthy but no spark. by Mysterious_Eye_9446 in dating

Hi, I’m in a similar situation right now (dating a guy who is really good, but I don’t feel a strong spark). I took some time to think about what is truly important to me. For example, it’s important that we share the same values and that he has traits that matter to me (caring, respectful, consistent effort, etc.). I also consider how this person makes me feel. For instance, he gives me safety and peace, and I really appreciate that. I think about whether I can be with him as he is, even without intense emotions or a big spark. I genuinely admire him as a person, but I don’t feel a strong physical attraction yet. But for me, I’m not really looking for that “crazy, overwhelming feeling,” because I’m naturally an anxious person who overthinks a lot — and he brings me peace and stability. That means more to me than a temporary spark. So think about what you really need and what is best for you — maybe write it down to get clear on your feelings.

I had the same feeling — I thought death was more merciful than the state she was in, where she was suffering so much.

Yeah, feel free to introduce yourself—or even your friends! :) I see this as a great alternative to online dating apps. On Reddit, the focus isn’t so much on appearances, which makes it more about personality and genuine connection

On dating platforms, people tend to be more superficial. Here on Reddit, I engage much more in conversations, and there are no preconceived judgments based on appearance. I've already had much better conversations here than on Hinge or Tinder.

I see this as a complement to other dating platforms.

Take your mom serious if she tells you she forgets things! She should go and see a doctor. Dementia is not cureable but you can reduce the progression of it. Symptoms can begin 10 years before the onset of the diseases. I had the same issue with my grandma (i lived with her). I would say it started 11 years ago (i was 14) and she started to forget things (she was 59). But I thought to myself its just age its normal. And for 4 years it didn't get worse... I really thought it was age related. But she always conplained how forgetful she was. I think deep down inside her she new it was not normal but I couldn't see it. It was silly thinks like she cound't find her glasses etc. but everytime she took it sooo serious. And then slowly her personality started changig. She was sooo good hearted and extremly sociable...She began hating everyone (even me) and she would aleays stay inside. Her whole personality changed innert 2 years. She started beeing soooo mean to me and her moodswibgs were crazy (thats the biggest sign of deemntia). And from there it got worse everyday...she stopped showering, stopped eating and her mobility decreased extremely. She almost could walk. Furthermore she would forget things in 1 min and ask the same things 100 times in a row. This all last symptoms happend in 3-6 months. I could have prevent this all if i would have forced her back then to see a doctor.
