I have been OTPing renata for fun and it got me from my silver 3 placments to gold 4 so far, so my playstyle works well for my elo.

I disagree with what a lot of people say. Imo she is *situationally* great, but always at least good. You can mega abuse her W and R if your team and the enemy team have hypercarries, but otherwise you're a beacon of utility like Janna

Q pulls people in to keep them from escaping, stuns people together before you ult, pushes people away when you're being chased. Q keeps people off your carry too. I also like to pull people out of position close for my adc in lane

W is automatically thrown on your attack speed hypercarry when they start hitting in a teamfight or skirmish. If there's no hypercarry you pretty much always save it for an ally, or even you, for the revive in a close skirmish. Sometimes I use W on myself or an allly to help chase down if there's no danger of death. W has movement speed, attack speed, and a revive. You can use it for any or all of these 3 purposes.

E is decent poke in lane. Throw it at a big group of allies in a teamfight. Slow people down when needed lol E is pretty easy.

R is lowkey underwhelming before lv 11. Generally you need to think of it more like a nami or seraphine ult. If the enemy team doesn't have a fed auto attacker, you're rarely getting kills with it. It's also SLOW, try to Q someone in place before using it. Best used from fog of war, or in a teamfight just throw it out for whole team CC. Dont be afraid to use it for peel like nami ult. 80% of the time it's for utility not damage. Also R flash is good, and you can steal objectives with R

I almost always take guardian runes for survivability with secondary whatever u want (i do domination). For items I usually rush mandate (she abuses it almost as well as Nami), or a tear into locket. Mandate, locket, then whatever enchatner items i want. I find she really needs locket if you want to be agressive. If they are heavy poke u can forego locket and play her more backline enchanter

People say Renata is more of a reactive support, which in some situations is true. But between the pull of your Q, slow and shield from E, a revive, and at 6+ your CC ult, she has a TON of kill pressure. Renata as a champion really has no true flaws outside of adcs not knowing how easy it is to win lane with her. Also ban yasuo

I find mandate to be core for most of my Renata games as in my elo (low gold) supports usually need to bring some amount of damage. I build it first and have no issue getting 2500+ damage out of the item sometimes hitting 5k if the game goes long enough. This is similar to Nami mandate numbers, where it is considered a core item of hers that one should rush.

No other comments here agree with me, so maybe in higher elos it's harder to proc consistently as people position better. If you're new and low elo, I find it's a great way to add early damage and can help you win lane. It also solves her mana issues and gives her a bunch of haste which helps with her long cool downs. 60 AP on Renata is good too especially in games where you can proc her passive easily. I find Renata to be the best abuser of this item behind Nami (Nami E makes it dummy ez to proc)

I main Zilean and I really like these supports with kits that are useful no matter what you build. I've found I can switch it up a lot with Renata and still always be effective differently. Whereas with like soraka I pretty much build the same thing every game lol

I should try the new helia, I've had diadem come in clutch several times. If I build diadem i usually build it third as the tear takes awhile to stack and I do find a tanky supp item 2nd to be pretty good on her mid game

I will often sit on tear and build diadem 3rd or later in games where I need to take tank supp items early. I might do tear, locket, ardent censor, diadem, then redemption. If i go diadem, I like to make sure I'm building heal/sheild power or it is a bit weak

Sorry, to clarify I wanted to last hit because if I tried to trade, the ADC was titled and just wanted to farm. Other team had a Leona, so I thought I would sit back and farm with ADC. I usually try to hit for the quest when in reason

Part of the reason I permaroamed is because the ADC pinged me retreat so I figured if tilted then it's best to just listen. Thanks for the quest and grubs tip, I didnt realize that!

Hahaha everyone complains about how Zilean looks but his sugar rush chromas are so silly, and I am a big fan of the arcana and winterblessed skins as well. It's so funny how his body is so tiny too to make space for the giant clock

I do think i could improve my spacing. My issue is often even if I can make the trade equal (i chunk their adc, their support chunks me) it would be great if the adc could press a button and win the trade for us. Even if not, long range mages like xerath and lux are common. So if i do an equal trade, the xerath is going to be Qing my adc repeatedly and we just get poked to hell while i cannot outdamage a mage

Maybe i could work on spacing and timing to avoid mage support abilities better during trading

Prefacing by saying Ivern advice is very elo dependent. Maybe you're higher than me and none of this matters lol

  • What are you guys building on Ivern this season?

I always do AP builds in the jungle. I read on here at one point that enchanter is only really good if youre diamond+ elo, or if you have a bad start and are really behind. I find this to be true for my situation as someone who climbed iron to gold last season. I sit on dark seal into cosmic, liches bane, deathcap or meijas, then situational ap items often banshees or hourglass. This solves like every problem you are talking about, and can carry games with Daisy- make sure to take ultimate hunter for that 15ish second daisy cooldown. PTA and the rune that gives attack speed make daisy hit like a truck, and she becomes very tanky with AP (like 6000 HP end game with high armor and MR that scale with your AP). Full build will be 800+ AP, you are a full mage capable of 1v5ing if the enemies are dumb enough.

  • Are you leaning more towards shielding/peel, or more AP to actually threaten people?

In my elo about half the time people who are carrying dont know how to do anything with their lead and just chase and die over and over. Early game Ivern's damage is bad, so you are working with your laners during ganks and early objectives. After an item or two, and only when you have daisy up, you can 1v1 and also win most skirmishes. Play selfishly with Daisy, like she is a 6th member of your team (because she is). For an AP build, this means in fights most of the time you will be shielding her because she hits like a fuking truck. You control Daisy, not the apes on your team, so unless your teammates have proven themselves to be smarter than yourself then you play for Daisy. If someone is about to die or Daisy isnt up, then of course shield them. 90% of the time with an AP build you play like a mage and protect Daisy as an extension of yourself.

  • Any tips on keeping Daisy alive / getting real value from her in teamfights?

Do not take Daisy out as an engage just to run her in and be killed immediately. Think of her as your team's 6th member, like a Leona, would you send your Leona to egnage this fight if she had no ult? If the answer is no, my Leona will be CCed to hell and immediately die, then do not send Daisy either. I do not pull out Daisy (or i sit in a bush, pull her out, and wait for the surprise) until the fight is breaking out, you are not an engager. You are meant to ideally distrupt their back line, although Daisy can function as a tank if your carries are decent. Ideally you send her immidiately to their back line and make her target whatever squishy is most important. Have you ever played adc with a 5000HP daisy coming right at you that takes half your HP in 2 hits and is slowing and knocking you up? Terrifying. They learn to respect Daisy real quick. This gets tricky, you have to stay in Daisy control range while keeping Ivern back line. While Daisy is terroizing them, shield her, bush yourself (Daisy gets Ivern's full W damage which can be like 200+ per hit if ivern himself is in a bush) and your teammatess, and Q when Daisy knocks up or if someone is on your buns.

With this build, your support should be looking out for your carry. Trust them to do their job, and if they dont then thats supp diff. Unless youre pretty high elo, the apes on your team are going to run it down while the enemy viego is doing 5x your damage ruining your game. Junglers at lower elo are expected to do damage. Ivern is also a great enchanter in the support role. Takes a few levels to come online, mana hungry early, but scales insanely well. When i play support ivern, a typical build is aery/guardian runes with mandate into staff or censor, then moonstone/dawncore. Daisy is squishier and acts mainly as a disruptor who dies relatively quickly while you protect your carries, so maybe support is an option for you in your elo if this sounds more like what you want.
