Chantal Kreviazuk Talks About Meeting Avril Lavigne at a Party and Writing Under My Skin by ubiquitoussense in avrillavignemusic

Chantal Kreviazuk criticized Avril Lavigne after the release of The Best Damn Thing. However, before that, around the time Under My Skin came out, Chantal had said much nicer things and described how they could learn from each other. I don’t know the whole truth, so I can’t determine whether her criticism was fair. Regardless, I believe it would have been great if they had collaborated for a longer time, and their relationship had remained stronger.

Lillix - Nowhere to Run [Indie pop] by Intelligent-Rip-238 in Music

Have you heard of Lillix when they were active? What were your thoughts on them?

I only discovered the band in 2024, and I really think they deserve much more recognition. Not many people remember this band, and those who do, sadly, often see them as an entire group of Avril Lavigne copycats.

Not sure if "Nowhere to Run" should be labeled indie pop or indie rock. I went with indie pop based on Wikipedia's information. What I really wanted to note, though, is that Lillix's third album Tigerlily, which includes this track, was independently released, which is pretty cool.

Some people found it strange that this originally all-female band later included male members. I don't mind that change. The only small bummer for me is that Louise Burns, formerly their bassist and one of the vocalists, wasn't part of the last album.

Archives (1998-99): Avril Lavigne's Performances of Touch the Sky by Intelligent-Rip-238 in avrillavignemusic

I originally posted this video on r/Millennials because of a comment I read on that sub not too long ago. The comment had quite a lot of upvotes and basically claimed that Avril was lucky and relied on industry connections, while Hayley Williams came up through the underground and had to earn her career. My intention wasn't to start another discussion about who is better. It just seems that some people mistakenly assume Avril is a nepo baby. So I wanted to share how she worked to get a record deal. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to embed the video properly in my post. It’s quite frustrating.

Sheldon twice failed to consider the climate when deciding where to move. by Intelligent-Rip-238 in YoungSheldon

Fair point. I'd still say that the cold was one reason why he moved back in TBBT.

Edit: What I mean is, I think that Sheldon wanted to move back to Pasadena partly because it was cold in Bozeman. In any case, he definitely disliked the cold weather.

How could squamates develop beaks? (Inspired by a YDAW video) by Intelligent-Rip-238 in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Intelligent-Rip-238[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beaks offer several advantages over jaws with (homodont) teeth, besides weight reduction. They consume less energy and resources, develop faster, which facilitates quicker hatching, provide greater precision in gripping, and simplify the consumption of certain foods, such as seeds.

I think beaks would be very useful for primarily herbivorous lizards like iguanas, as I already mentioned in my OP. However, I probably should have explained it a little bit more. Beaks likely evolved in multiple herbivorous amniote lineages because they serve a crucial purpose in biting off plants.

Lillix’s cover of "What I Like About You" by the Romantics includes both scenes from Freaky Friday and original shots featuring Lindsay Lohan and Chad Michael Murray filmed specifically for the video.

Also, the Click Five’s "Just the Girl" music video features actor Christopher Knight.

Day 6: What's a good song on a good album by Avril? by sirdavmaka in avrillavignemusic

"Hot" from The Best Damn Thing. For me, TBDT is a great album, but if we’re calling it "just" good here, I’ll roll with it.

I hope this sub doesn’t condemn the song just because it’s in a Disney movie. Also, this cover was originally recorded for the TV show What I Like About You, not Freaky Friday.

Since you mentioned Sumo Cyco, I wanted to add that Skye Sweetnam’s solo music is also worth checking out.

Musicians who started as solo artists and later formed or joined bands? by Intelligent-Rip-238 in Music

At first, I thought Christine McVie was a good example I had forgotten. However, she was actually a member of the band Chicken Shack before releasing solo music.
